Preflop: Hero has K J in CO
We raise to 2.2BB, btn folds, sb calls, BB calls

Flop: 8 6 3
sb checks, BB checks, hero checks

turn: J
Sb bets 4.4BB, BB calls, Hero calls

River: 7
Sb checks, BB bets 15BB, hero?

Please provide your thoughts on that turn probe.

I didn't compute that as an unexploitable sizing and I can find some pretty reasonable ranges IMO to back that up. It deserves more analysis. How do you range him?

I think:

  • -we can have AA, KK, QQ, JJ, 88, flushes
  • -turn moderately large sizing (it's definitely not small) should be AJ or better
  • -BB caller could easily fold Jx there
  • -not much reason to raise anything as BB

I'd fold turn...

Easy turn fold imo though if itÂ’s fourhanded as in only four people are sitting at the table maybe itÂ’s a raise, which under any circumstances has to be better than calling.

Preflop & flop standard, hard to see what you beat on the river.

Turn is a fold for me, might call on a rainbow flop but there are very few river cards that improve our hand and a lot that put us in a world of pain.

I like the pre-flop raise. I also like the flop check back.

The turn is toughish. SB can be bluffing because flop checked through. An almost 60% pot bet is a standard value bet as well. I probably call because BB can have a flush draw and SB can have virtually anything including 8x and/or multiple draws. I think if SB had AJ there would have been a 3-bet pre-flop. SB can also have a flush so we could be drawing dead.

The river is also tough. I fold without thinking because its again a value bet size (like 75% pot). I get that BB can be bluffing I just don't know if it would be an over bluff situation. Because we called the turn bet we have a strongish hand. We also would have cbet on the flop with some flush draws. In practice i wish i would think more because even though the bet sizing is large I don't really mind getting knocked out early if we can rebuy and I have seen spots like this where it has been a bluff. And we know SB didn't get there.

I think every street was played well (especially if you called a bluff on the river and won...)

I like the line. I think I might fold river bc it seems like we don’t beat much. Sb and bb should be x raising that board a lot. I could be fine folding turn also but idk I feel you have to call with stated hand as folks can shut down on river with hands they think have showdown value.

Would prolly cbet flop super small vs bb but not against two villains. Think you gotta fold river

I'd fold turn...

I thought that the turn probe could be a lot of marginal hands trying to win the pot now. A weaker J (QJ, JT, J9, an 8). I think also a naked A of clubs or might probe this turn as a semi bluff.

So I thought about the river for a while. This is kind of close to the top of my range here (maybe AJ) and I figured if I am folding this, then I am kind of fold almost everything.

I called and villain had Q T and sb folded.

So you posted the hand to show your bluff catch, not to ask for opinions?

vnh I never would have won that pot

Though I do disagree with your ranging of himself and yourself too

I post hands that I have to think about and that I am unsure about. I use to only post hands that I would lose, but now I post hands that I think about in that situation and after the fact. I felt a bit lost in this spot and was not sure about the turn and the river (especially with another player behind).
