No, the microstakes population is not playing GTO.

That being said, of course you should care about hand ranges and position. Those are two of the key building blocks of playing good poker. But spending a lot of time playing around with solvers and studying solver solutions is a waste of time at these stakes. It helps at a high level to get a sense of how your opponents should be playing, but then you should be adapting to how they are deviating from equilibrium. Which is a fancier way of saying focus on exploitation rather than GTO.

I play a lot of microstakes satellites & tournaments on 888 - I don't personally study. I have tried previously, which I actually feel has hindered my game, as I used to do better trusting my years of intuition (ran deep more often previously vs now). Although, truthfully, I probably haven't tried the correct things/done enough studying. However, I play with a lot of players and they for sure study, albeit still seem to make some punt style plays. I've seen people in $1 satellites with $1mil $1.5mil & $4mil total earnings, I assume they take it pretty seriously.

Satellites? I mean yeah people are going to be thinking about ICM if 10 or 20 spots are going to give the same value as 1st place.
