Daily Hypersonic $20, J10s bvb
Hi People,
I was 38/50 in this tourney.
We are in ITM cruising and the chip leader sits down to my right, seems aggro based on first orbit.
He shoves against me after losing a big pot.
Hero:10bb Villian:60bb chip leader
I am in the big blind and he is in the small.
Folds to villian he goes all in....... what do you do with J10s in the money?

call, it's a nice hand. call happy and the flip is yours. if you call in right quantum time you'll have luck. winning flips is a skill.
when would it become a fold in ICM?
we'd have to think of a more extreme situation, final table with shortstack, and covering stack small blind shoving around 100% in baseline, for JTs to become marginal.
realistically small blinds might then be expected to be shoving tighter than that, so JTs would turn into an ICM fold.
but if we devalue ICM a bit and give chips more inherent worth, then it's very often just a cool call.
from a general strategic view at this stage, you can accumulate chips, not pass on good spots.
you'll generate a lot of EV with shoves and proactive plays covering players who are tightening.
Yeah, I think you're supposed to call here. Maybe not if he's incredibly tight, but it sounds like the opposite.
This is a call in a regular speed tournament but given that this seems to be a hyper we can’t pass over any edges at all so we need to call here and spin it up
Thanks guys for the input! I did end up calling and losing to a10o but that's poker!
Another one for you that came up a few days ago ...
I'm 5/7 so it's the final table bubble of a $8 Hyper.
Chip leader again to my right and shortest stack to my left.
We're 4 handed I'm in the SB.
Button- All in 15bb
Small bind (Hero) - Call 7bb
Big blind - fold 5bb
Hero has Ako and button shows JJ
JJ holds and I am eliminated in 7th place
Any arguments for folding here?
Not with those stacks and that structure.
Thanks for clarifying!
I have one more interesting spot....
This one is $5 Hyper 15 left
Im 8/15 with 8.5bb
CO shove 6bb
button fold
Hero SB - 8.5bb Pocket 9s
Call or fold? CO has been fairly active but not stupid 35-40% Vpip small sample
Pretty clear call, 99 is way too good against a 6BB CO shoving range, even one that might be on the tighter side than optimal.
