$300 weird multiway spot

400/800/800 level

Older straightforward rec opens to 2100 UTG+1 9handed

He has two open sizes, opens smaller with marginal opens, and opens larger with premiums (this is the larger size)
In same orbit he used this size with 9c9s and overbet flop multiway on 652ccc and called big check jam from BB

Eastern European man in his 60's splashy chip leader calls SB

I decide to flat AQhh off 48k (they both cover) in BB

I'm a kid in my 20's with an aggro image so I don't think a squeeze will get through

Flop (7200): 8c 5h 3h
Checks to UTG1 who bets 2200
SB calls
I call

I could definitely c/r but I don't think UTG1 is folding overpairs/AK (basically his entire range) and SB is sticky too, I can get value on an A or Q turn if it checks through and I'm fine with keeping in SB with worse FD's

Turn (13800): 5c
SB thinks and leads 10k
Maybe I should fold here but in game I call

UTG1 now clicks to 20k
SB thinks and folds!
I call leaving 21k behind

I don't think back jamming accomplishes anything, I put UTG on overpairs now and I don't see him folding for a minclick. We have to call 10k more to win 63800 so we're getting better than direct odds.

River (63800): 3s
Check
UTG thinks and bets 20k (leaving me 1k behind)
Hero???
I tanked for a while and just couldn't figure out what was going on. I think we chop with some Ax of clubs and maybe once in a while we beat a KJhh/JThh but really can't find too many other bluffs he's opening UTG1
I made the fold, found out what V had later, will post result eventually

Your thought process seems solid. I think if there was a street I would play differently it would likely be the flop. After the bet and call it's very tempting to raise. If you make a small raise I agree with your assessment that splashy players will float a lot, but if you follow up with a turn jam I think that gets through a lot. You could have avoided the complicated turn spot as played, although I expect the EV difference between a flop call and raise is likely small so I'm nit-picking.

Overall I think you played the hand well. Good job making the disciplined fold on the river, although given that this is a thread I'm assuming you would have been good this time if you had called. It's still a fold in the long run.

Agree with GWF that your thinking was solid and would only add that with his alternate flop betting, you have villain responding/reacting to your aggression, not vis versa.

As played, I doubt I am hero calling with AQ either.

Reveal: UTG1 actually had pocket 88 for flopped top set and SB had a low pocket pair (maybe 44) is what they told me when table broke. Thanks for the replies, interesting spot

GWF's suggested line is interesting but calling flop has to be fine. The turn is the key for me. The problem is the implied odds are lowered because with the paired board, you might not get paid off if you call turn and hit. Let's say UTG+1 folds and SB fires 15k on the river. Your jam is going to look super strong, even as a young guy with an aggro image. I would prefer to call the big donk on a clean turn so that we avoid the situation where we value own ourselves. An A or Q is going to be tricky to play MW and with the nut draw gone I let this one go.
