ICM question

Hey guys, I have a hand that bothers me if anyone would be so kind to comment.

it was a low scoop side event (mystery bounty)

19 left, blinds were 250K/500K

I have 8M in the SB, CO (24M) min raises and I jam 77

He calls with AJ and I lose the flip.

Thinking back I should just fold and wait for a better spot.

What do you guys think?

I would prefer folding to jamming simply because this is a mystery bounty tournament and CO might be calling with hands like KQs/ATo/A9s which would ordinarily be folds in this situation. Could be I am wrong though that Co might also call with hands like 44-66 or even 33/22 which most people don't raise with but here in CO they might.

Because this is a mystery bounty tournament I would likely call here and go set mining. Which we can do given it was a min raise. Could be tough spot if the flop has no cards > 7 though. That might be the spot where i would c/r all in and if they have a PP >= 88 so be it. But when we jam my guess is they would call with PP >= 88 anyway.

Would you be posting this if you won the flip?

You got me thinking here. Probably not.

I think it's generally a fine shove. The mystery bounty aspect has some weird influences. Like you might get called by something like KJs when you'd really like that to fold to your shove. On the other hand, you might also get called by A5s, and you're definitely getting called by 66.

Yikes this is perfectly fine. You had 16bb and pick up what 4.5 bb when villian folds. If villian is opening A4 or K-10 etc, they are folding to your jam most likely.

Stop being so damn results orientated. You lost a flip. You ran into top of his open range and it was a flip. Not a big deal.

Now if there were 5-6 players on 3bb, it might be a icm mistake but I doubt it in 16bb.

77 jam is fine here. 16bb jam over a min-raise from a big stack in a mystery bounty is standard. Mr Rick makes a fair point that mystery bounty dynamics might make V call wider than normal, but 77 is still ahead of most of that calling range. The result doesnt change whether the play was correct. Naths question is the real answer though - if you won the flip you wouldnt be second guessing the jam.
