Why I love limpers
Played today at the Borgota 6-max $580 multiday tournament (I think $150,000 Guarantee)
1) A guy limps in UTG early on (though its my third table because well TDA rules now require cards being dealt instead of picking the next BB to move) and I call in CO with T4s. BTN folds and SB and BB are in. Flop is TT6. checks to me and I bet 500 into like 2000 chip pot and it folds to guy who limped and he calls. Turn is 7 and the third diamond. He checks I check back. River is a 6. He bets 2000 I raise to 6000 and he calls. And yes he called with his 52s flush. He actually didn't realize the board had paired again.
2) UTG limps and I am on BTN with 32s and I call. SB and BB are in. Flop is AKJ two hearts I have spades. Checks to me and I check. Turn is 7 of hearts checks to me and I check. River is J of clubs. Checks to me and I bet 1000 into 2000 chip pot.
3) UTG limps I call in SB with 97o. Flop is 874. I check check guy bets 500 I call BB folds. Turn is a 3. I check guy bets 1500 I call. river is a 5. Check check.
4) After the first break. So it is 300/500. UTG limps. Folds to me on BTN with KJo. I make it 4000. OK I forgot it was 300/500 and he limped with a 1000 chip. I had an operation 9 days ago and was on Oxycodone for 5 days until 4 days ago and Flo Max for 12 days (Flo Max makes me loopy). Normally I would have raise to 2000 or 2200 there but apparently I wasn't there there.
5) We are now at 300/600. 52s guy limps I raise to 2600 with KJo SB and BB call and 52s calls. Flop is KT4 checks to me I bet 5000.
6) Limp Limp I am on BTN with K9o and I call. I have 23,000 chips and we started with 40,000. I was up to 55,000 but lost two pair vs a better two pair... Flop is KT4 two diamonds. Check BB bets fold fold I call and SB folds. Turn is a 7 he bets 6700 I jam for 18,000 because he could have QJ or two diamonds and there are a ton of rivers I might have to fold to with the best hand.
7) Guy limps UTG at 800. Call and I make it 4000 with AQo. Now this is the guy I raised with KJo for 4000 after he had limped UTG earlier. Folds to UTG and he jams for 31,000 fold and I call. I think this is an obvious call and he did have ATo. And a T was on the flop.
I just love limpers.

you can tell the quality of any game by how many people see the flop and especially how many of them are limping!
Hand 1 is a classic live poker moment that never gets old. Guy called a river raise with a flush on a double-paired board and genuinely had no idea what was happening. I had a similar spot at a WSOPC where a guy called off his stack with a flush on a paired board and then asked "wait, do you have a boat?" right after the chips were already in the middle. The FloMax overbet to 4x is honestly something I would frame and put on my wall.
