Survivor: GENERAL THREAD

Survivor: GENERAL THREAD

I wanted to post something Survivor related but realized there's no general thread about Survivor. Each thread is about a particular season or votes for hottest, best, etc.

Given that who knows when/if the show will come back, here's a general thread to post all things Survivor.

I won't ruin the OP with my content post, so it will come next.

Enjoy and come on in guys!

Completely agree with Gabes move to play the idol on himself. I would do the same in his spot.

Get your guaranteed safety secured, especially at the first tribal and then take it from there.

Literally 5 people went home with an idol in their pocket last season. The whole point of a blindside is you dont see it coming.

for sure, getting rid of known idols is 100% the correct move, but why for himself and not sue?

He's exposed himself as betraying his original alliance to Tiyana already (in successfully bringing her to his new alliance). From his perspective, there's probably three possibilities:

1) Tiyana is not really coming with him, and has told the original alliance he's betraying them AND that he has an idol and they are going to try to blindside him. Playing idol for self: ideal.

2) Tiyana is not really coming with him, and they will be sticking to Sue as the target. They plan to go to rocks and see what comes. Playing idol for self: would be better if he played for Sue, but ultimately he's safe, and his team is a 2-1 favorite to have the majority after.

3) Tiyana is coming with him (either before or after a tie), and voting out TK. Whether he plays the idol for himself or Sue is mostly irrelevant other than a missed chance to build some goodwill with Sue (but with the counter of identifying himself and Sue as a power pair). Playing idol for self: fine.

So far I don't think the yellow tribe made a mistake in getting rid of Jon, especially for Sam and Rachel. He was by far their biggest threat strategically and would probably have jumped ship if there's any sort of swap or twist. Andy is a useful loyal idiot who will do what they say without being able to really pull anything and he was solid in the immunity challenge.

I feel like most of the Red tribe is gonna be fairly irrelevant story wise but Teeny keeps getting confessionals that could go to anyone on her tribe so far. That has to be good for her chances of going deep.

Teeny has leapfrogged Sierra on my personal most likely to win rankings after this weeks unnecessary content and edit protection following being caught by Rome red handed.

At the moment

1) Teeny
2) Sierra
3) Kishan

with Sue as a dark horse

Sam is far too out in front to be anything other than an end boss figure I think

It never fails to amaze me that after 47 seasons of this show, people don't still realize that trying to jump straight into strategy at the beginning isn't the right move. Same with being cocky and overly self-confident. I guess it's just a facet of personality that the producers look for so that they don't have a bunch of people just being quiet from the start. People like TK and Rudy will simply never win being so aggressive and open right away.

Adam is the perfect Clay or Philip for Sam to keep around if he can make sure he stays long enough IMO.

I'm seeing a Friday night 8PM ET Survivor listing on https://www.cbs.com/schedule/

Anyone know what that's about? Are we getting an extra episode this week?

Looks like a re-air of tonight’s episode.

Ah ok, that's unusual

It is. Maybe CBS is struggling with programming.

But if you scroll down to the Friday episode and click on the details, it shows original airing for tonight.

Falling for Rome’s bluff of potentially idling Genevieve is absurd. When the votes are clearly going to Sol/Aysha anyway

Thread is dead. Survivor is dead.

I had to force myself to finish that last episode. I hated last season at the start too, hopefully someone entertaining emerges to become this years Q midway through the season. Rome maybe?

They really need to change up the pre-merge structure.

I felt like episodes 3 and 4 were by far the worst part of S46 and that this episode was a huge slog also.

I clocked extremely early on into the episode that Asia was going home based on her visibility spike and nature of both hers and Romes confessionals so everything after then felt very drawn out.

No suspense or intrigue in the generic challenge and was just tediously waiting for the target to switch to Asia during the whole voting out Sol discussions.

Ultimately seeing 3 -4 weeks of the exact same small tribe dynamics is just plain boring. There is a reason why they do the final 5 onwards all in the finale.

No one is forcing anyone to watch the show lol. It’s the same complaints bi-annually at this point

You want it to be one way. But it’s the other way

How much better would the show be if Jeff did the interview portion of tribal after the vote out? People might actually say things that aren’t subterfuge bullshit

The problem is it's hard to get too invested into who goes out 14th or whatever. We don't know the cast well enough, we haven't seen enough bad feelings, we don't have a good sense of who the real power players are and alliances. Premerge is always like watching preseason NFL - a bunch of irrelevant scrubs are on the screen quite a bit, maybe you get to see the real stars for a quarter here or there, but mostly it's not that important other than maybe you identify a rookie you want to keep an eye on.

Essentially premerge can be summed up in a Seinfeld exchange:
Jerry Seinfeld : [Pointedly] Well, something happens.
Russell Dalrymple : Well, why am I watching it?
George Costanza : Because it's on TV

Rome do be catching fish like a boss. Maybe aysha could have prepared the pot.
Sol is very cool though. I hope he makes it to the swap

People really underestimating how funny it is that two disgusting podcast freaks got told “no thanks. We hate you” at their first tribals.

Andy was even good this week. It’s almost like these people aren’t that bad and they only tear them down early because they know they have the footage to build them back up.

Rome is a victim of today's society - being energetic and enthusiastic is seen as "too extra" by the cool kids. Sure he can be a lot but I'd always rather someone positive and energetic than the alternative.

Also had a good laugh as he was out catching fish, and the rest of the tribe was lounging in the ocean saying "I think he thinks we're lazy!".

Yeah Rome is the one character I'm actually rooting for so far.

He's the only personality out there. I was quite happy when he didn't fully share the fish. That would really bother me if I was him.
