I wanted to post something Survivor related but realized there's no general thread about Survivor. Each thread is about

I much prefer to watch the show unspoiled so these sites really need to make an effort to hide it from accidental viewing.

Hate to say it, but avoiding this thread is a good idea too. All it takes is one bad apple; there was a guy who spoiled S27 here back in the day and I learned my lesson from that incident.

I stopped watching after 38 but I've now watched 40 (obv), 44 & 49. I see on 50 there's people from 42 & 45-48. If you could only watch a couple of them to get ready for 50 which ones would it be?

Seasons 45-48 were all at least decent and worth watching (whereas 49, 42, and 41 were awful), and if I could only choose one to watch from S45-48, I'd probably watch S47.

I disagree about S49 (it was fine not awful) but otherwise this is pretty spot on; S45-S47 are the new era’s cream of the crop.

This is the issue. I don't want to go to a prediction market site and get spoiled because they put it on the homepage. There's always been markets for Survivor. At least there was years ago on various books. Low limits but if you were inclined you go look at the odds and have a reasonable idea who will win/make it far.I much prefer to watch the show unspoiled so these sites real

This season got spoiled for me about a month ago. I was looking up something about survivor contestant reporter to see if I could learn more about the workplace issue and the story said Savannah won season 49 and would also be on season 50.

Was ticked off at myself for perhaps not knowing that winner spoilers were out there, but was also surprised anyone would print the winner's name a month before the end of the season.

Anyway, the season was Ok but Sage trying to convince us that she had some master strategy, and then she votes Steven out instead of trying to break the trio..... Sage was all over the place, and had no plan that would have led to her victory. You don't win by being outside the top trio and then voting to make them even stronger...

Just looking again at the Rizzo and Savannahs tribe breakdown for 50. I guess i'll put in spoilers in case people really dont want to see;

Spoiler
Show

Colby, Kyle, Q, Rizzo
Angelina, Aubry, Genevive, Stephanie

I actually think Rizzo has a nice landing spot here as I expect the Colby/Stephanie duo to be the stable 'glue' of the tribe and will be much more receptive having Rizzo as one of their numbers compared to the likes of Q and Aubry

Christian, Joe, Ozzy, Rick Devons
Cirie, Emily, Jenna Lewis, Savannah

This on the other hand feels like all over the place and would't shock me if Savannah just ends up being the first boot as an easy throw out name.

I binged S45 and really enjoyed it. The cast was very strong, and I was entertained throughout. I didn’t find any of them boring; even the bad players were fun to watch, like Bruce and Jake. After episode 1, I couldn’t stand Emily, but after 3–4 episodes I ended up rooting for herβ€”always fun when that happens.

Katurah’s last-second vote change from Dee to Julie at the final five cost her the win. I also looked up whether Dee and Austin dated after the show, and it turns out he’s now dating Jeff’s niece. He must've gotten a good life lesson not to trust your showmance when there's 1M on the line.

With the exception of the quitters, everyone delivered. It felt like an old-school season I'm not sure why I think it might have been the oldies doing well. My only criticism is that they shouldn’t mess with the merge. The split tribal right after the merge, along with half the tribe being immune, ruins the most interesting part of the game. I could also take a few more bitter people.

Re: The bolded - also cost me the Survivor Survivor win. Thus Katurah is my all-time most hated cast member. 😑

I know he's older, wiser and has surely matured out of most of this.

But this level of crazy/delusion can't just totally evaporate. I really hope we get at least 10% of this Coach in Survivor 50.

Broken YouTube Link

That's one of the (many) fascinating things about Coach...per Wikipedia he was 39 when South Pacific filmed...and supposedly (IIRC from way back when) he was pretty sure he won that season, even after FTC and right up until the votes were read live.

Assuming that's true, you have to be capable of some impressive mental gymnastics to believe you won that season after its FTC...I don't think you can un-learn those sorts of behaviors after age 39.

Him and Angelina are the two I really want to see go far in this season for entertainment purposes

Rhap have been releasing 20-30 minute pre season interviews of each of the S50 players each day which I have been working through, including running down the cast with each person asking if they are friend or foe.

Some of my cliff notes so far

-Jenna Lewis - Has early boot flame out written all over her
-Everyone is desperate to work with Coach + Ozzy
-Everyone knew just in ponderosa that Savannah won 49
-Joe has learnt nothing from his defeat
-No idea how Q isnt the first boot from his tribe
-Aubry looks in a great spot (i'm now debating switching my winner pick to her)

Enjoyed rewatching the Erik calamity last night. One of the underrated funny moments - they are down to F5, with Erik, Natalie, Amanda, Parvati, and Cirie, and Erik says his biggest two threats are Natalie and Amanda. Great awareness lol.

It's also a bit hard to watch in the sense that Erik is young and naive, he falls for their ridiculous trick, and they sit there laughing at him. Nowadays, I feel like there'd be people on the jury who didn't appreciate the mockery.

James' reaction is great as well.

Would also warn everyone that Survivor 50 has been heavily spoiled so would recommend being careful when on platforms like X, Facebook Youtube comments etc

(Avoidance of doubt I haven't been spoiled so all my predictions will be my own)

Is it over?

Is it over?

Since both seasons are taped back to back with like 2 weeks between seasons, yeah, it was finished 6 months ago.

That seems extra insane for the back to back players. I never really considered that it was that fast. Seems healthy

OTOH, it's an advantage for the back to back players, since they are complete unknowns to the returning players.

Think of Russell in HvV. No way he goes deep if the other players had seen his game.

I've barely watched Survivor the past five years, but I think this cast will at least hook me in for awhile. Probably until they vote out all the interesting players.

On a semi-topical note, I'm surprised how badly Rob C played on Traitors, making himself a target early on.

Come on dude. Anyone with the “gamer” tag was dead on arrival

American Traitors outcomes are generally decided by

85% pre existing relationships & reputation
10% luck
5% social strategy

The game Traitors incentives killing people that actually play the game. Get too good, get killed off.

So you end up with a bunch of social circles of clueless idiots. At this point you just hope the traitors piss each other off and kill each other.

Yeah i correctly presumed that that show sucks. Had to watch Ian and Rob but it’s gayer than I even thought
