Penguin (Max)

Penguin (Max)

Anyone watching this? Just starting ep 4 - it's entertaining enough, but not sure how I feel about it yet

(Then again, I loved "Gotham", so what kind of taste do I really have)

It feels like Colin Farrell is playing a bizarro version of Tony Soprano imo

My read on that death scene was Oz did it because if he wants to get into politics, his partner in crime would have been a loose end / liability. The "I can't take you with me this time" line made me think Oz was referring to his new ambitions.

My read was Oz realized loving and protecting his mother made him vulnerable. His focus on her often caused him to deviate from his vision to make sure she was safe and cared for.

He had much love for Vic as well but surmised it would be the same issue as with his mother all over again. He needs to be free from all distractions to focus on his master plan. Worrying about and caring for Vic would risk his singular focus.

Vic is dead, Oz now has no one in his life he loves and is now free to be The Penguin.

I wonder if Penguin eventually realizes:

"It ain't gonna be the cops or the rival gangs that get me..it's gonna be that God damn Batman."

Or maybe Penguin is smart enough to know from his last encounter and how Carmine ended up..you stay under the radar enough so the Bat doesn't come after you.

Whatever outcome I'm excited to see how his story progresses in the next film.

Obviously Batman will show up in the next season, I wonder if they'll keep it PG-13 because he doesn't kill people? It's HBO so I'm hoping for a badass version of Batman.

Obviously
