SNL - It's funny again! (seriously its not)

I think it's a really good idea for everyone to start watching Saturday Night Live again. Last season was great, and thi

I think he handled that situation about as well as was humanly possible without making more of a crazy scene on live TV. Although I do wish he had immediately called for security and not continued the show until Smith had been removed from the venue. I can't imagine how the Academy would still award an Oscar to a thug who had just attacked their MC.

Exactly, he didn't have to get physical, just get Smith removed and charged with assault.

But they evidently kissed and made up at the Oscar after party.

I thought Rock's monologue was solid af. Huh?

the episode was decent. A little repetitive at times but i did laugh out loud a few times

stupid slapstick stuff with tons of breaking (the hospital sketch) will never fail to crack me up

Wow, they were off the chain tonight on Weekend Update. They couldn't even say the lines because they were nonstop laughing.

I can't believe they said the depression joke.

Depression joke was hack.

But that roast beef joke with your wife there, in a black mans voice???

That took guts to pull off.

They must have reposted it for some reason. I hate when that happens.

The SNL50 Beyond Saturday Night doc is really great! 4 hour long episodes and I could have easily kept going for another 20. Each episode showcased a different thing but since there were only 4, I'm not sure why these are what they settled on. I think eps 3 and 4 were my favorite.

50th Anniversary show Sunday, ton of returning stars and musical guests.

Yeah, this was great. I loved the 2nd episode on the writers the best. It's amazing how they write, cast, build sets, wardrobe, etc. for all the skits in like 2 or 3 days, not really sure which ones work and which ones don't lol.

It's amazing any skit is good under that kind pressure, and I think we should give them so slack when a skit is not working.

The 50th Anniversary special was a blast. It didn’t need to be good, which it often wasn’t, but just seeing everyone was amazing. When it hit, it hit like a truck!!

The audience's response to G .E. Smith was weak. I blame the applause sign guy.

GE Smith is a legend. The guitarist now (Maddie Rice) is so damn fine.

Shreds too

while the show is always hit or miss, I adore Ego Nwodim. She should be a star. Cracks me up every time.

I don't get it - last week with host Mikey Madison was terrible, the I didn't laugh once after watching more than half the sketches. But this week's episode with Jack Black was very good . Now obviously MM doesn't have the comedic energy of JB, but she is a good actress and I don't think she did anything poorly; it's just the writing was terrible that week. I don't know if the writers didn't know how to write good material for her, or if the good ones were all sick that week.

Her Weekend Update stand up was probably her best appearance on the show. I've listened to her plenty on comedy podcasts. She is always the weak leak at ad lib and spontaneous improv type stuff. Her sketch work on SNL has always been weak, but her friend Carl Tart got hired as a writer on the show last year so she may get better sketches tailored for her.

The White Potus is right up there with the Larry David/Bernie Sanders HBO parody goodness.

That was freaking fantastic! I hadn’t seen it until now but saw bits about Amiee Lou being pissed off by it. I figured she was taking it too seriously but nah… she’s got a legit beef lol

Yeah I don't know why they spoiled the otherwise perfect sketch by insulting her. I don't even watch the show, but every other actor was playing a real world political figure so I could enjoy the sketch.

But then they have the single actor portraying a character from the real TV show? I didn't understand that bit at all as a non-viewer. Then I read the comments on YouTube that it was making fun of the show actress' appearance and demeanor.

It's a shame, as otherwise that was a great sketch in a better than average episode. Jon Hamm was great.

keep hearing about some guy named Michael Longfellow being fired from SNL. I probably watch 7 or 8 SNL episodes per season and have no recollection of this guy. Not even after seeing a photo. And he's been on for 3 seasons.
Now Heidi Gardner, I'll miss. She's great.

He wasn't in many sketches, or at least many memorable ones, which I'm sure is why he was let go, although I thought he was a good deadpan. His most notable appearances were on the news, just talking about various things, not in character. He seems more of a stand up guy than a sketch guy.
