"That's me getting there"
I won a little over a 1K pot tonight with a pair of 4s ... three-handed no less. It was 350 to go. I had about $100 left having just been knocked way down by a guy calling my dry ace bluff. Meh. But the 100 never got bet. So the hands are:
7-seat: A-K-Q-10
4-seat (me): A-4-K-J double suited
5-seat: A-Q-9-8
Run out was 7-7-4-2-2, no flushes.
So the 7-seat turns over the no pair hand and says "A-K" high, thinking he might be good. The 5-seat keeps looking at his hand evidently trying to find something to beat the A-K. That's when I know I'm golden. To my credit, after 100K hands of not making a nut straight or nut flush and nearly going insane over it, that's when I went "Iverson" on them, saying 20-something times:
That's me getting there ... that's me getting there ... that's me getting there, a pair of 4s. And that's when they knew they were up against a PLAYA.
