Flopped Boat Question

Flopped Boat Question

I flopped a boat 663 rb. I had a mediocre hand pf but felt good at the table during the session... About 140bbs effective.

My question is that on flops like these multiway, should you bet basically all the time? Semi deep with these hands my "game" doesn't feel comfortable as I don't really feel a sense of "control" over the hand as it's the nuts yes which kind of makes me HAVE to play it. Unsure if that makes sense, but another part of having to do with that is I don't know if I'm going to run into a player who calls a pot sized bet (no raise pre)with any over pair...

Anyway in this instance I checked about 5-way and hit a k on turn (63kq) and shoved after flop checked through to a raise and got coolered by kk.

I've kind of haven't had the right mindset I feel aside from this question while playing. Kind of have been mixing it up to much and trying to play perfect while when I was winning and playing professionally(live stakes mostly nl/sporatic play now but no bankroll) I remember just betting more aggressively and bluffing more often but not mixing it up nearly as much. Basically, playing correct abc poker-solid fundamentally and if I was wrong on a read it was from being solid and aggressive... Which I feel like in turn kind of "dumbs" down the game as a natural response from playing that way... Basically again it makes it easier to read opponents playing ranges as nothing gets out of line as much or often than if you try mixing it up more often.

Besides the question of always raising these small "gimme hand" boats and not trying to get as much money from the hand as it's not really a hand that a thinking pro player can do much with creatively as other hands. (Less skill involved) Should the attitude be exactly that just take down nut type hands flopped like this? Especially lower boats?

Thanks

Welcome to the forums .. I like to see more PLO posts coming thru!

What are the other factors in the hand? EP/LP? PF action? Your table image?

In general, for me, I'm not offering a free card. I don't care if I need to Donk here or not. There are just too many over-pairs that can bink the Turn as happened here. Yes, it would be nice to slow play and have someone Turn a straight. But what you want to do here is get HU against another 6x and then hang on during the Dangler war.

And don't go weak .. probably 3/4 to pot. In fact 'Pot' probably looks somewhat weak, like you have 44 or 6x (but no boat yet).

If KK wants to come along, they have to pay a price. GL

Thanks for the welcoming and advice.

I'm pretty sure it was 5 or 6 way pf in ep and i have feeling the pf bet someone just doubled the blind. I felt pretty comfortable with my image at the table and table dynamics.

the answer really depends on your knowledge of vilains and your image at the table (are you considered as bluffy or overplaying?)

if you have a tight image, performing x/r will be for protection. you will clean vilains by keeping vilains with a 6. you can go carefully on the turn and river and not hesitate to fold on a bet pot later on.

if you have a wild image, no problem to x/r for value and go broke as quick as possible

"Anyway in this instance I checked about 5-way and hit a k on turn (63kq) and shoved after flop checked through to a raise and got coolered by KK"

Sorry .. what was the Turn action? What does 'checked through to a raise' mean? Did you check Turn also and got 'bet' into? (Not a raise, it's an opening bet)

Yes, the Flop checked through, but what happened on the Turn? I can see some Players checking the Flop, but you 'have to' start building a pot on the Turn, eh? The cooler has already occurred, but sometimes you will find 33 bet the Turn hard.

Either way .. the Cooler happened. There's really only a couple of things to discuss here ..

1) Should we bet the Flop no matter our position?
2) Can we ever double check even though we have the Board crushed? GL

Im sorry.. I think the pot was doubled pf and I think I was in the blinds.

Flop was checked through 5 or 5 way and I bet pot on turn and had 2 callers.

River I bet pot was called than 3rd player raised pot he had about 120 bbs pf I had about 220bbs and might of remained putting him allin for another 15bbs more.

This player made a fishy play against me earlier in the session. I didn't think of him having what I feel is a handheld might have here most in a 88. The first caller I put on a 6 or 33 and this guy a 6 and 8.

3-3-8 scenario, HU, but you might get some similar insight on playing a hand like that. Starts around the 9:10 mark.
