A few paired board spots
Hello all,
I had a few bad spots (at least the outcome was bad) on paired boards, when holding and not holding trips myself. Just wondering if these were just coolers or if I misplyed any one of these hands badly. Apologies for mixing them all in one post.
Hand 1
I am in the BB with around 80bb holding AdAs9s6s5s. CO opens, BTN calls and I just call, since i have 4 of a suit. So SPR is around 7-8. Opponents splashy, 70% VPIP, c bet everything, overvalue everything, could bluff 3 streets with air, etc.
Flop comes 6c6h4s
I check (in order to check raise). Sure enough CO bets 5bb, BTN pots to like 25bb and then i rip it in. Was this a mistake? As I said, they are overly loose pre and very aggressive when trying to bluff and overvalue their made hands, but the button raise was almost surely very strong. I think since they play so badly I was just waiting for them to hang themselves, and this seemed like the perfect spot.
CO folds, BTN calls the all in and he had QQ643 and held. I didn't even have that bad equity against the flopped nuts, think around 39% since all my cards were outs to a better boat. Even the 7s came on the turn to give me 2 straight flush outs.
Hand 2
I do not have trips this time, and this is 4 card PLO, with Tc9d8d7c on the button on 50bb. Limp from MP, I pot, BB calls and MP calls.
Flop comes 8c6c6d. BB bets half pot, MP fold, and I call, since I have the 8 blocker to the boat, a wrap and a FD.
Turn comes 5s
He bets again half pot and I just ship it, since I turned the straight, I block 68 and he most likely has just a 6.
He had QJ65 and won.
Hand 3
Last one is not that interesting: early position with KKJT in a tournament, after late reg, but still quite a bit to go until ITM. Stacks around 20-40bb, no one really short.
I open and get 3 callers.
Flop comes JJ2, everyone checks to the button who bets small. I raise all in since there is already quite a lot in the pot.
He calls and had AJxy and held.
Many thanks for any help!

Hand 1 I'd 3bet - you're only 80 bb deep - they're opening 70% so you have an equity advantage. On the flop - I'd probably fold. You're flipping if he pots any random 6x or better - this is the best case scenario imo
Hand 2 - not sure effective stacks but you're blocking clubs, and 79T. You both can have FH's yet he's betting into you OTT - sort of a puke spot but I don't know if I get away against a loose/aggro opponent esp if effective stacks are shorter.
Hand 3 - I'd just call and see a turn. Once you call it's obvious you have Jx+ - can play a turn depending on stack sizes and make a decision
I wouldn't squeeze hand 1. Unless specifically a 'splashy 4b' table.
When the money goes in 3 ways, you're going to be in bad shape. It's a weird hand and I'm not convinced that jam is awful or anything, but button is repping and can have a lot of strength and with the paired A in your hand, which blocks some of his value range, he's going to have a lot of flopped boats. I think you can just call and then check-fold turns in the expectation (especially when you have a 5 in your hand) that even if he is sometimes pumping his life in with a 5678x type hand that he's going to have outs against you. But even when they overvalue hands, blocking yourself, his value range, the fact this is multiway, means he's kinda strong. If he's the type to rip rip rip a 5678 you could either just fold now or probably rip yourself is fine.
I could also see this depending on how much money I have available to me in this live game and how juicy spots you expect to see in the future.
Hand 2 looks fine. Probably bink the 9c next time.
Hand 3 what are you trying to achieve with the jam? Are you worried about getting value or protecting versus QJT9 or something? I assume no fd. Get comfortable just calling in big pots, particularly in MTTs.
So generally players in PLO will not raise trip boards or even continue betting without full houses because they understand they are far behind vs other full houses. Even very aggressive players take this approach and do rarely people even continue bluffing on these types of boards because players generally overfold.
Hand 1.
I donÂ’t mind flatting here in a super splashy game OOP if youÂ’re not 100% navigating these spots. I like 3Betting if youÂ’re confident in your postflop edge and the players are more passive and fit or fold.
On the flop, unless you think player in hand 1 I will go super aggressive with just trips you can ship it in and hope but even his weakest trips will be ahead such as 6785, 6789. If heÂ’s not going crazy then I would just fold as heÂ’s very unbalanced and almost always has it here.
Hand 2.
Same concepts in hand 1. If he continues betting IÂ’m most likely folding the turn here due to all the reasons above. If you have an open ended flush draw then call.
Hand 3.
I donÂ’t see any merit in XR here as we want to keep his bluffs in and weÂ’re not even doing that well vs even worse trips than us as we lose ours with our KK. And again it depends on player tendencies.
Conclusion/Lesson:
The problems your facing in each of these hands show that you may not be so confident in your reads of each player. To get more confident itÂ’s extremely important to always pay attention to each players tendencies, bet sizing, timing tells and body language.

Thank you, all! I understand the nuances of hand 1 a bit better now!
Hand 3 what are you trying to achieve with the jam? Are you worried about getting value or protecting versus QJT9 or something? I assume no fd. Get comfortable just calling in big pots, particularly in MTTs.
Basically not letting worse random hands catch up and stacking any other (non AJ) hand with a J. But I take the advice on being comfortable with just calling and playing a big pot and will work on this! Thanks!
