Adjusting open sizing in MTTs
What are you regs using for open sizing in mtts at various stack depths? Few ppl open pot, usually its around 2.5, sometimes its just straight 3x and all sizes around that it seems like.
The other day deep in that Aria mystery bount I had a grip of chips when down to final 2 tables and found myself for first time opening pot bc I wanted to make it more expensive for ppl with 10-25bb stacks to see flops. This made sense in game, but it also ended up bloating some pots and getting into spots where youre basically having to gii with meh hands.
Also for 3b and squeezes the sizes were all over the place. Whats your approach with these?

I kind of adapt it to the situation. If I'm short and playing tight ranges trying to ladder or squeeze past the bubble, I'll always pot it to 3.5. I generally want to steal the blinds and/or get money in with aces or kings or good AK.
In bounty tournaments I may want to entice shorter stacks to see a flop so I'll open smaller, generally to 2.2. Sometimes I use 2.8 as well, You can kind of manipulate the SPR preflop to your advantage. Smaller openingsizes for when you're opening a lot of pots as a chipleader also allow you to call more 3bets, because they're smaller.
So in general, large opening size when playing a tight range. Smaller opening sizes when opening a wide range...
