AKQJ ds vs. A985 ds

AKQJ ds vs. A985 ds

using PLO mastermind a lot now, analyzed this, same scenario:
100BB, EP open to 3.5BB, MP 3bet to 12BB, now question what does EP do with the following hands?

trainer says AKQJds is just a call, but A985ds (or A874, AJT7), is a 4bet, it starts to not become a 4bet anymore when your side cards are Q or K (and below 7, A763 for example)

can anybody explain this, whats the reason? thx

Playability. One hand is too good to fold if you get 5b jammed and also blocks your opponents 3b folds which come from K, Q and Js.

The other unblocks your opp 3b/fold range and is an easy snap fold should you get jammed

Ah, good explanation, thx

But:
So you put in 36BB (with 100BB stack) and still fold with A985 ds after 5bet?

In theory you have no folds in these positions when you 4b.

In practice I would as no one is jamming less than AA here.

That said another reason hands with mid rundowns are 4b is cuz in theory when you call off the jam, you hit the middle of the board as opposed to the high card heavy 5b jam range of MP

Reverse blockers if you will

+1

Flops well, unblocks stuff like KKXX that might be slightly ahead but will fold to 4b. Slightly more equity against AA, since hands containing a K make less straights and some of those straights are blocked by AA anyways. Both hands still have equity to call off the 5b shove at 100bb, but you're forcing more money in with less equity with those broadway hands containing a K, more likely to be against AA with less KK combos possible.

Filter mp range vs 4b. 47% of hands containing a K fold, 41% containing a Q, 38% containing a jack, 37% containing a T, 29% containing a 9, 28% containing an 8, and it gets lower as you go down.

93% of KKXX folds to 4b.

Your unblocking hands that don't do bad against our 4b range and are forced to fold. Even if they call we are not doing terrible with our hand and we're doing pretty well against the range that just calls us, plus we have enough equity to stack off.
