Better way to play the nuts? 5 card PLO
Sat down at a 5 card PLO game with $400 - so this is like the 2nd hand I played.
Everyone covers - Buy - in is $200-$700 but I usually start with $400 to get a feel for the game. Most players have around $700-$1500
I can't imagine any of these guys being crushers - and would probably catorgize them as bingo players - but maybe 1 or 2 tight players at the table.
$1/$2 - Bring in for $5 - you can open to $15
I'm UTG and go $10 with A♠A♥4♠4♣T♦
6 callers which is pretty standard for these kinds of tables.
$60~
A♣8♥3♠
I lead for $20 or 1/3rd pot - goal was to get someone to raise since my bet looked weak.

BTN goes $90
Now I think I make a mistake and go $310
I don't have much behind to protect - I like going $200 better and just jamming any turn - I am only worried about a 2, 4 or 5 - and I block 44. I also wouldn't really like the board pairing the 8 or 3 because it's likely the player also flopped a set but other than that the rest of the deck is pretty clean.
Well they all fold and I win the $210~ pot. BTN had a lower set, which makes sense.
They may all fold even if I make it $200 but you never know. People just usually always call min-raises when it's not much money - and a $200 bet isn't that big for this game.

Making it 200 is better than shoving.
lol call
Well especially with 44. I don't understand why villain is raise-folding a set though. Hero needs to start turning top 2 into a bluff I guess.
3betting to 200 sounds ridiculous to me, but do what works

We can make it 200 with all our Ax + gutter if this guy is folding sets after committing a quarter of our stack. It still leaves us room to fold when weβre bluffing. Maybe making it 160 is more efficient.
As an aside, Iβd be looking to limp raise pre with these mediocre aces, donβt really mind playing a multi way limped pot.
I think you can make it to 200 with your entire range if villain is folding sets. But your initial argument was to make it to 200 so that doesn't fold sets i.e. to get value.

But V isnt folding to 200, i think we should jam with our entire range if V is folding sets which makes opβs play correct? Lol
Call sets, jam everything else I guess
A scary turn card does not exist.
Call and hope he jams turn.
Only issue was it's 4 handed. If I just flat I let everyone else in - they have to call $70 to win over $400 - and that does give them odds to try and hit a runner runner. They are also deeper - so my stack isn't a huge threat. If they hit a gin turn card that gives them a wrap we could see some fireworks. I guess I could run good and hit a mega win if I do flat and play this way but it offers a bit more risk.
I would say i'm 50-60% against a field?? Even if I put in ideal cards i'm up against in a 4 way calculator it is hard for me to be above 60%.
I would ideally want to get it heads up vs the raiser.
It doesn't matter if you can't knock out someone who barely has odds to draw to runner runner. You love them all drawing to runner runner. Maybe you can pour yourself a mega pint after you quadruple up!

Your goal isnβt to win a pot now.
Your goal is to make the most profitable decision.
Itβs ok to sometimes lose a pot like this on the river. Thatβs poker.
Make the most +EV decision.
There are no scary turn cards. Maximize your EV and let everyone join in and jam turns for maximum EV.
Ya sometimes you lose cuz you didnβt let the guy chasing his 2 outer fold the flop, but the 90% of the time you win.
This is why I never understood why people get mad when they raise and get 6 callers with a good hand. Now you get to play face up, no thinking and you only have to win 1-6 times to break even and 1-5 to profit. Sounds like a win win.
