WSOP Online - $25 PLO5 Hand Review
Hi All,
Just interested to hear your thoughts on this hand. I'm relatively new to PLO5 having dabbled very infrequently over the years - I'm very much an holdem player but have migrated a lot more to Omaha over the last 12 months.
I entered this tournament with not much hope of really doing much but figured I'd give it a go and pretty soon ended up with a big stack and running deep and thus made the final table out of 660 with 7 remaining. I was 5th in chips.
This hand started with me in the BB with around 40bbs. UTG+1 has approximately 80bbs and BTN has around 95bbs.
Action goes as follows. UTG folds. UTG+ 1 raises 2.5x , folds to BTN who calls, SB calls and I decide to flat for an extra 1.5 with Ac Jh 9h 8s 5d.
Flop comes - 9d 9s 4d
SB checks. I check. UTG+1 bets around 1/4 pot. BTN calls. SB folds and I just call.
Turn- As
I check. UTG+1 checks. BTN checks.
River - Tc
I lead for half pot, leaving myself around 27bbs behind. UTG+1 calls and then BTN pretty much snap jams all in.
Thoughts?

Hi,
You should probably mention this is a bounty tournament, right?
Any tendencies from BTN from before? would he be capable of flatting AA? Once in a blue moon he has TT and rivered you, but just seems like he has the same hand as you, or maybe even T9.
I would personally play this exact hand more actively, you are not covering anyone, but they are covering you, which gets opponents to float more against bets. The field is relatively bad, most people playing this tournament would lose at PLO25 cash.
If you have a big bounty on you they might chase a diamond draw or just random stuff. Once you hit the second nuts i would keep betting. This is your chance to get close to the chip lead. Obviously this just changes the whole dynamic and you are not in the same situation as described. If you want advice exclusively on the river decision as played by you on previous streets, i would call. But also I would maybe fold or not bet in the first place depending on my reads on BTN.
5 Card PLO tournies are still a very new thing, the understanding of the strategy is way behind that of cash games. Due to the inherent variance of PLO5 and of MTTs (and bounty MTTs even more so), it kind of gets lost in all the swings, but there is quite some edge you can have in these spots.
I would lead the turn - no one is betting the turn without 9x+. I would call river given this is a 25 MTT and pot odds, but in theory I would think only TT jams here.
Shouldn't we just be check jamming this flop after the button calls?
