PLO/8

PLO/8

I have recently discovered a PLO/8 tournament available to me. Now most of my experience playing Omaha 8 is limit, not pot limit.

I am by far not a Omaha 8 expert. I know enough in theory to beat weak to medium games, but experts would easily eat me alive. That said, my regular PLO game is solid and I feel confident in it against all but really good pros.

So what adjustments should I make to handle the pot limit aspect of Omaha 8? The obvious is that the high hand matters a bit more since it is less likely to be split (excepting straights). Obviously having the nut flush against two opponents I should be getting the max in hoping they are going to be both chasing the nut low and will get quartered.

What else should I be looking at and taking advantage of?

Well, it's a different game. You are correct that even the starting hands you should play are slightly different. I think nut flush gains strength indeed. It's more important to try to make villains fold a split.
