[MICRO] 25 NL Facing turn raise with top pair weak kicker

[MICRO] 25 NL Facing turn raise with top pair weak kicker

I think turn raises are generally underbluffed at these stakes. Given the call out of the BB pre flop, and this low run out, I think sets are a decent part of his range which pushed me towards folding. Also sizing I think pushes him more towards sets than flush draws, but not certain enough about that to put much weight on it.

Ignition - $0.25 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BB: 101.4 BB
UTG: 196.6 BB
Hero (CO): 105.84 BB
BTN: 105.32 BB
SB: 99 BB

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has A 8

fold, Hero raises to 3 BB, fold, fold, BB calls 2 BB

Flop: (6.4 BB, 2 players) A 3 4
BB checks, Hero bets 3.04 BB, BB calls 3.04 BB

Turn: (12.48 BB, 2 players) 6
BB checks, Hero bets 8 BB, BB raises to 21.96 BB, Hero ???

Can you explain why you chose to bet and the sizing on the turn?

As played I think folding looks good, turn raises seem to be heavily weighted towards 2p+

Easy fold, nobody is raising draws ip here at my stakes

Also like x turn call basically any river

Checking flop is also an option, as well as checking turn after betting the flop

Fold turn as played.

Agree with you and other commenters on checking turn here looking back. Like Unsporting said I think check calling river is the best line.

Wondering though if we had better kicker like AK would we be betting turn? My thought process was basically charge flush draws.

You could also check flop. Hand need s very little protection and you can't go 3 streets for value. Sizing is off, if you play polar strat go bigger or just bet samller.

I don't hate turn bet he will happily call with bunch of pair+draw, but check is more standard.vs raise you mostly continued with hands that can hit something strong otr.
