tough spot in 3bet pot

tough spot in 3bet pot

Villain is a good player for the pool, at least preflop, probably more on the aggro side. 21/19 with pretty high WWSF 55% (1 500 hands). I don't have much history with him

€0.25 NL FAST (6 max)

BTN: 136.4 BB
Hero (SB): 108.64 BB
BB: 140.4 BB
UTG: 233.84 BB
MP: 102.8 BB
CO: 151.24 BB

Hero posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has Q K

fold, MP raises to 2.36 BB, fold, fold, Hero raises to 12 BB, fold, MP calls 9.64 BB

Flop: (25 BB, 2 players) Q 7 A
Hero checks, MP bets 7.36 BB, Hero calls 7.36 BB

Turn: (39.72 BB, 2 players) 2
Hero checks, MP bets 28.28 BB, Hero calls 28.28 BB

River: (96.28 BB, 2 players) A
Hero checks, MP bets 55.16 BB and is all-in, Hero ?

I think it's a GTO cry call.

WWSF 55 is hyper aggro it's a small sample, so not very reliable.

Idk why didn't you bet flop.

I would call river opponent at least seems aggro and you only block value.

Idk why didn't you bet flop

I realised recently we are supposed to check a lot A high flops SB vs IP in 3bet pots, presumably because Ax is a sizeable part of IP defense range (I don't know really)
I thought it would apply here, also because I need very few protection: a K gives me 2pair, an A reduces A's number in my opponent's hand, I have a diamond.

You can bet 1/5 😀

Seems like an insanely good bluff catcher but the turn size makes me very scared, and the configuration is tight, and it's an ace high board

If he's not very wide pre that removes bluffs but also a lot of his value so I'd definitely call given an aggro read

Why are we 3-betting a good HJ opener who is going to be a pain in the ass postflop with a weak hand?

I would call the river hoping he is the type to triple off 88 here since his value range is so narrow.

Thanks for the answers!

Clear fold in retrospect. what were you thinking?

I think check calling twice here you look incredibly weak as a hand here so if the villain was bluffing you might expect he could find the courage to bet the river. To be honest I think you look like exactly the hand you have and when you have that you have to choose some strategy to balance and when he could have a flush or trips here just owning you, I don't think balancing a call here is cool.
