[Phenom Poker] Official Thread

Welcome to the official thread for Phenom Poker! My name is Michael Dunlap and I am part of the Phenom team, focusing on marketing and communications.

Phenom aims to be the first truly community-driven poker site in existence. Created by players, for players and owned by the player community.

Why Phenom Poker

Play a raked hand, you're an owner.

We have a revolutionary way of handling rakeback and player benefits, centered around the PHNM token. This token cannot be purchased, it cannot be sold, it can only be earned through play or through referring new players. You can learn more about the PHNM token here.

Long story short, you earn rakeback that at the end of the week gets paid out in the PHNM token. Those tokens earn you rakeback in perpetuity. Yes, forever. Just want regular rakeback? You can sell your tokens. Want to hold them and continue to earn even if you don't play? That's the beautiful part of the system. Once you're an owner (literally one raked hand), your tokens will earn forever.

You have a say in all that we do.

We don't want Phenom Poker to just be the result of ideas from a few people. We want Phenom to be constantly evolving from ideas and desires of the community as a whole. Join the community to discuss anything. Whether it's here, on Discord, on Telegram or if you tap us on the shoulder in the street, we want to hear from you and your voice matters. Ask for a new game variant, propose governance or suggest a promotion. If the players want it, we will deliver.

What games and limits we offer.

We spread limits from micros (.02/.05) all the way up to high stakes (300/600). We offer all of the regular games (NLH, PLO, PLO5, Stud, Draw) as well as a number of different mix variants (Badugi, Badeucy, Triple Draw, Dramaha, etc).

Since launch (early October 2024), we have seen regular low-to-mid stakes NLH, PLO, Big O and Mixed games being played. There are also a handful of HU tables regularly going.

In the next few months, we'll be adding PLO6, Super Stud, Chinese Poker, and of course...tournaments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a standalone client?

As of today's date, we have built out the client and are going through testing. Keep an eye out for more announcements in the very near future.

Can I deposit via PayPal or something other than a crypto wallet?

You may only deposit via a crypto wallet, however, we have built a tool where you can convert your currency (see supported currencies here) into USDT directly in your Phenom account.

We are always around and willing to help folks learn the ins-and-outs of depositing crypto. We also have a number of resources to help you, including our tutorial videos at YouTube.

I'd really like to see (insert feature here).

Our product roadmap (like everything else we do) is there for you to look at and vote on as an owner of the site. Once you're logged in, simply click on the menu and select "roadmap." From there, you'll see what we're currently working on and what we're considering working on. If you don't see your idea, pitch it to us!

Currently in progress are tournaments, leaderboards, updated dashboards, improved UI and more.

Have questions? Comments? Concerns? Feel free to ask. I'm here daily and am happy to discuss anything and everything around Phenom Poker. Hope to see you on the (digital) felt!

Nice!

Official thread!

Since I didn't get a chance to reply to your question on the other thread since it is now closed.

That's being discussed as I type this reply! One thing we are developing that will be released in the upcoming weeks is a rake race/leaderboards. Whether the winners earn tokens, USDT or tournament entries hasn't yet been decided.

You're an owner, Jay, what kind of promotion would you like to see?

Honestly, leaderboards seem good. They get players playing more and longer. Would there be different leaderboards based on stake level or game types?

For me, stake level would be important because I play micros. Also, some games like split games seem to generate more rake because pots are bigger. The site is really drives a lot of mixed games so it's not like the leaderboards could solely be NLHE.

I don't know how we could accommodate the smaller player base with multiple different types of leaderboards.

There will definitely be different levels for leaderboards. You're spot on in saying that it would favor the highest limits. As for mixed games driving more revenue, I'm not sure there. They do have less hands go unraked (folded before flop) but NLHE sees 100%+ more hands. Will have to keep an eye on it and make sure there's a fair way to do it.

Thanks for your reply, love seeing that you're invested in Phenom.

Hey all, just wanted to drop in with an update on what's going on the next few days at Phenom.

Yesterday, we had World Champion Sergio Aido drop in and play some 2/4 NLH with us, which was cool. Probably the first time I've played with a World Champ (at least that I'm aware of).

The next two days, we have two more of our pros dropping in to play on a featured table:

Angela Jordison (DownBad) Thursday, December 5th at 5:00pm ET 1/2 Big O
Francisco Benitez (Tomatee) Friday, December 6th at 6:00pm ET 1/2 NLH

In addition to our featured tables, you never know who might show up! Ari Engel, Eric Baldwin, Alec Torelli, Justin Young and Nathan Gamble have all been in action recently.

As always, if you have any questions, let me know!

Some cool new updates for everyone!

New Referral Program

Phenom Poker has released a new referral program. There are two big draws here. First is that you can earn rakeback from your referrals (USDT or PHNM, your choice) forever. Once they qualify ($100 generated in a week), you get a % (tops out at 30%) every week forever.

The second big draw is that you don't need to be an official agent to take advantage. Poker Agents/Affiliates, Streamers, Influencers, Content Creators, or even just ordinary players can all participate and earn. Check out all the info here.

Tournaments & Leaderboards

We've released some more information about upcoming feature releases. Notably, you can see screenshots about tournaments and our rake race/leaderboards that will be released in the very near future (leaderboard first, tournaments after). The post with the screenshots is right here.

As usual, I'm here to answer any questions people might have!

Hello, what are the peak hours on your pokersite?
Everytime i log in there arent any players at all!
Sometimes not even 1 full cash table, not even at the lowest stakes!
What action is heating up? At what time exactly?
Makes no sense at all to deposit any money if you cant spend it...
Hope you finish implementing tournaments and sitandgos as soon as possible...maybe then you have at least a handfull of players and a little action going on...
Wish you good luck with your site..i find the concept very appealing. Hopefully you can attract a playerbase.
in the meantime i will continue playing on coinpoker...there they have at least 1500-2500 people playing...
Good luck.

Any plo5 running? What times, what stakes?

Hey there! Yes, we are seeing plo5 games periodically. Generally there's a .25/.50 game going during regular US hours and a bigger game (2/4 up to 5/10) has been sprouting up daily. These are high-only games, FYI.

Thanks so much for reaching out. We are on a three-week streak of increased revenue and we are seeing regular action every day. If you're looking for 30 live games to choose from, of course we're not there yet, we're not even a couple months old. However, we are seeing regular action daily. Just yesterday we had two .50/1 Big O games, a 3-6 Mix Game and a .50/1 NLH game along with a handful of heads-up games and people waiting to start other limits. We believe we're filling a gap in the online poker community (mixed games) and when we release tournaments we're fully expecting everything to really start growing quickly.

Two main things set us apart from Coinpoker. First, we offer mixed games, that have action every day. They're usually getting going later in the US day, the other day we had two different 6/12 mixes (Fun, Circus) going at the same time. On a *typical* day, there will be a lower-limit mixed game (up to 6/12) and players trying to start a higher-limit game (15/30+).

The other thing that separates us is how our token works. You earn ownership in the site, which in turn earns you additional revenue share and voting rights. Our token price is a direct function of revenue. As the revenue rises, the token price will rise (as it did last week). Like a stock, you want to find that bottom and buy. Since you can't buy PHNM, you can earn by playing (or referring).

Is there a specific game/limit you're looking for? I'd be happy to drop you a line when it starts going if you want to give us a shot. LMK.

Completely understand where you're coming from. Everyone wants to wake up tomorrow and see 1, 000 players on site.

Drop the kyc and get a playerbase. Just my 2 cents.

Can you help me understand this request? KYC (Know Your Customer) seems vital to know Im playing on a safer site that isn't bot infested. No site is perfect from avoiding these kind of things but I'm genuinely asking (want to know, and not being sarcastic), what am I missing? Don't people feel safer on sites like this? I like the fact they take a little time to vet the player b ase.

Bots are still a big problem on regulated licenced sites with KYC.

people who live in nice neighborhoods also get mugged sometimes so it's no different from living in the ghetto

Difference with Phenom is that there isn't a few owners at the top.

Why would other sites want to ban bots? Owners wouldn't care because they bring in revenue. As long as players are non the wiser and still playing.

At Phenom everyone is an owner and a player via the token. Every player doesn't want to play bots. So, it's in everyone's best interest to not have bots.

Thanks, Jay. I think that's the biggest thing we're trying to get across at Phenom is that we are as transparent as any poker site you've ever seen. You are literally part owner of the site if you own any PHNM tokens. You have voting rights. You have access to the blockchain and can see how much revenue we're making.

And I know some folks have (rightfully) wanted to wait for more games and more traffic before checking us out -- and I get it, I'm a player -- but today is a really good example of what we're building. Here are games currently running:

.25/.50 NLHE
10/20 Mix
2/4 Mix
.50/1 Big O
.50/1 NLHE
.02/.05 NLHE
1/2 Big O

On top of that, there are 8 heads up games and 9 ring games with a seated player.

Revenue has grown three weeks in a row, we have tournaments on the horizon and a slew of improvements from UI/UX to bug squashes. If you're frustrated where you're at now, give us a shot. If you need help with how to load crypto, we're here to help.

Hi Mike,

I have noticed that people do preflop raise to 2.25 and 2.5x.
I have put these numbers with a "." as well as "," into the settings, but the stored phone app version doesn't give me the option to preflop raise to these numbers.
The slider just offers the full bb amount.

I can manually type it, but that is too time consuming. Other players pfr very fast regulary, so I assume there must be an option.

Can you give me an advice to solve that problem?
