Preflop ranges usually come from a mix of solver outputs, equilibrium-based charts, and real-world adjustments from high-level play. A lot of modern ranges are built using tools like PioSOLVER or GTO Wizard, which simulate optimal strategies in different stack depths and positions, and then those results get simplified into usable charts. On top of that, experienced players tweak them based on population tendencies—like being tighter in low stakes games or more aggressive in high rake environments. So it’s not just one source, but a blend of theory (GTO models) and practical exploitative adjustments.
