fold, MP raises to 2.5 BB, fold, fold, Hero raises to 9 BB, fold, MP calls 6.5 BB

Flop: (19 BB, 2 players) 6 9 J
Hero bets 7.5 BB, MP calls 7.5 BB

Hero bets 25 BB, MP calls 25 BB

River: (84 BB, 2 players) 6
Hero checks, MP bets 35 BB, fold

MP wins 81 BB

I think the play here should be to bet bigger on the flop. On the turn take advantage of our Q of spades, bet again and bet river spade. Check fold turn without the spade.
Do you agree?

Very bad board for your hand. Double barreling this spot with all of your AQ is probably just burning money at 2nl. Vilain has loads of Jx, straight draws, trips, full houses, PP. People at 2nl are overly loose passive. If you check your hand down, you will over realise your equity. When you bet, vilain will probably call you too much. I would recommend to either have a strategy to only cbet backdoors as a bluff, or to just check your whole range here on the flop.

Jam river, 6x is a brick (besides 56ss 67ss)... If I would barrel turn it would be with intension to jam good rivers

P.S. did not see this being 2nl, don't jam at 2nl lol... Start at 10nl/25nl

Yeah I agree with Morty that you could easily find yourself over bluffing this spot. Are you doing the same with AKo for ex? It's important to think of what value hands you should take this line with an then come up with bluffs as well. Remember you're never going to be playing all your value hands this way because you have to consider your opponents range and what his range is able to call off with.

It's reasonable to fire once OOP with AQ here. Probably more +EV than checking in practice. Turn barrel is a big mistake. A flush draw blocker is nothing. People think you just barrel off AQ/AK in 3-bet pots because that's what aces or kings would do. It's not that simple. QT, KsTs. AsXs, those are reasonable turn barrels, because you have a solid draw to a nut hand.
