Is This Too Thin?

Stakes: 0.10/0.20/0.40 (0.10)
Hero (me): Ad Ks
Villain: ? VPIP: 39%

39.90 effective so 100bbs, 8-handed

co limps 0.40
I raise on button to 2
bb calls
straddle calls
cut off calls.

flop 8d 2s Ah.

pot 8.80 I bet 8.80.

bb calls, others fold

turn 9h pot is 26.40

he checks I bet 7.90, he calls

pot is 42.2. river is 4s

he checks river I bet 13 he folds.

I was targeting one pair hands like A 10, A 8, one pair hands that might get sticky. Seems hard to get called by worse though as he folds, but could A Q or A J sometimes that would call.

Jam OTT imo, this is too fancy. He cold calls 5bb,XC vs Pot size bet 4ways(still has 2 players to react behind), A-high board.

Kind of weird that you decided to shift gears from large(4ways) to small(HU).

He prob calls draws if you jam turn(should not but got this far already).

I would play this, same pre, B33 flop,B50 turn, jam river.

P.S. not too thin, sorry for your loss to 88.

Doesn't A8 have you beat?

I think villain can arrive at river with Ax, that's fair. But A2, A4, A8, A9 all beat you, and I'd expect AQ to 3bet pre at least some of the time. So that leaves A3, A5-7, AT, AJ? that you're targeting. You're losing to all the 2pairs, all the sets and the above.

I'm not sure what draws he has on the turn (that calls flop sizing w/ two behind).

I personally agree with your instinct that this is a bit thin on the river, and I would just check back.

Yeah, A8 has me beat I didn't mean to put that. Yea, I think a check back on the river would be better seeing there are too many combos that beat me.

If I jam turn do I still get calls from worse Aces? I agree his random heart draws and other draws will call and that is good. I bet pot on the flop because I use over-bet or check strategy on these Ace high boards heads-up because King high hands and random pocket pairs likely won't call any amount so I'm just trying to get max value from worse Aces and I used the same strat multi-way, not sure if its optimal but seems to have worked here.
