Defending too wide multiway?

Played on Ignition
(5NL)

Hero in BB with 100 bb
Villain 1 on BTN with 97 bb
Villain 2 in SB with 40 BB

Preflop:
V1 limps
V2 completes
Hero checks Kd3d

Flop (pot 3bb)
2d 3c 8s

V2 checks
Hero checks
V3 bets 2bb
V1 folds
Hero calls

My plan was to continue on cards that improve me (K,3,Diamond) and fold the rest if villain bets turn. In the middle of the game I thought Villain could have some bluffs here, or could be betting a random 2 (I see this quite a bit at the lower stakes). Unsure if this is a bad call or not. I have a bunch of 8's that could call instead, with similar outs to improve on the turn.

It's easier to bet than bluff catch oop.
I rather bet 1bb than to check/call 2bb.
When we bet 1bb, we can take down pot immediately if they all fold. If we're behind we can still outdraw them. They could call with worse overcards/st8d etc.

Once villain bets this is probably snap fold.
I rather check/raise than check/call.

You pretty much lose money when v continues bluffing or has a better hand or getting a better hand on turn/river.

You'll be oop with a marginal hand. You have 0 initiative, even if you improve you are never sure if v has better.

This was a limp pot. You lose nothing just by folding. V has less incentive to bet than a single raised hu pot.

Tl:dr;
You'll always lose money check/calling marginal hands oop.
It's more profitable to take the initiative.

Folding is one of your best friend. He will never betray you.

betting probably better, call as played is ok. Wouldn't really think about your hand ranges too much here, you're just against two fish.
