30NL, 6max Hand review SB (AKo) vs BTN

First hand review here. Hope I’m doing this right.

Villain (BTN) 100bb
Hero (SB) 140bb
Fish (BB) 60bb

Played with the button a number of times in the past and 9/10 of the time, he’ll show up with monsters.

Preflop: Hero has AKo in SB.

Folds to button who limps 1bb. Might be trying to play against fish (BB) in position for cheap? Hero raises to 5bb with AKo. BB folds, Hero calls.

Flop: Pot is ~11.5bb. Board is 3h 5s Kh.

Hero bets 5.8bb, Villain raises to ~15bb. Alarm bells go off but Hero calls with TPTK. Hero does not have a heart.

Turn: Pot is ~41.5bb. Board is 3h 5s Kh 8s.

Hero checks. Villain bets ~25bb. Hero tank folds.

Not sure what I should have done here. Based on prior history and action on flop, I’m thinking he likely flopped a set or something. I also considered the possibility of him having AK KQ or KJ but BTN would have likely open raised those hands. He might have nut flush draw but I don’t see him playing this aggressively postflop.

Should I have played this differently? Looking back, maybe I should have folded to villain raise on the flop.

Assuming he has limp traps with AA and KK, on this flop he has 10 combos of value that beat us (AA, and the three sets). If he’s limping AA and kings, it’s not inconceivable that he’s limping AK. I did the math and even if he’s only betting sets and AA plus AK (6 combos of AK is 6 plus the 10 value we lose to is 6/16 total combos is 37.5%. Now we only win half the pot this amount of the time but calling 25 bb 6 times and losing is -150bb and winning 66.5/2=33.25 bb 4 times is 133. I put the math here cause I’m still new to combo analysis so maybe I’m an idiot and did that wrong) here we still probably need to call at this price on the turn. It’s looks about slightly negative EV, but assume any bluffs and it’s an easy turn call. Assume any value we beat (KQ/KJ) and it’s a slam dunk call.

Edit fixed my math

It has a name?! D= Limp Traps? Son of a...

I haven't played much in more than a decade and I don't recall that being a thing; back then it was all about Punish the Limper! But I definitely see people "limp trapping" like crazy at Micro now and I guess it makes sense for that to be a tactic employed nowadays as it's very effective against fools like me and fishier players. Very disappointing - I really thought HUDs and balanced, aggressive play would be the final evolution of this game but I come back now to find GTO and stuff like limp trapping - I guess it's a good thing, but makes me feel old lol.

Anyway, Will broke it down beautifully, per usual and I can't add much else. Feels like either A) You were dead on and he was hoping to face the fish with any two cards on the cheap, though it's weird that he wouldn't just raise in that case or give up when you raise - and then you got in the way and ruined his fun so he wants to throw on his big boy pants and push you out through sheer will or B) Limp trapping a monster. If your reads on him are accurate and he shows up with a solid hand 9/10 times, then I'd lean towards B. Given Will's math, I'd do what he said. Thing I'd really want to know, since you do have history, is how often does he limp and especially, how often does he limp the BTN?
