Long moving trough micros Strategy post.

So ive moved trough the micros at a really fast pace and im writing this thread to share some of the things i noticed and amoung other things made it possible for me to go this fast.

You can track my progress and results here. https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/174/p...

2NL - 10NL.
Get a good fundamental knowledge of atleast how your own range should look from every position then play tighter then what GTO recommends. Study the charts and start the process of thinking actively about what other players ranges look like from every position.

I dont completely agree with some saying: never flat preflop just raise or fold.. But this could be good to practice in sertain spots. As we move up were gonna be playing more 3b pots and to put in a 3b with suited connectors like 89s TJs and maybe some pps like 88-TT can be really good practice Just to feel it out and try to get a bit comfortable in more marginal spots..

Otherwise just NIT and ABC up. Dont do anything fancy. Fold to raises, fold to donks, and valuetown it when you got it.. Really.. Its that easy. Bluffs dont work cause they will call with 2nd pair no kicker.. Dont try to herocall because they will have you beat..

Just NIT up atleast up to 10NL. @10NL we can start carefully and selectively playing some poker, experimenting with some 3betting and some checkraising bluffs and fun stuff..

As for 25NL the game changes. The value of 25$ start to matter.. And we got alot of players in this pool who might just be moving up, taking shots, figuring it out..

25$ hurts way more then previously 10$ to loose..

I assume we have all dealt with the feeling playing for money gives us. The one im talking about is when you played for a bit and you might be up a little or down a little get into a tricky spot and get rivershoved on when you think you have the best hand..

Then we still fold..

With the main reason behind finding the fold is omg - if im somehow wrong i loose another 9$ and that would hurt..

I see this all the time in the micros and one of the main reasons i climbed into 25NL sp fast is i realized the possibility to exploit the crap out of this behaviour..

Its very common, its very bad and its costing alot of ev to just fold because it would hurt if were wrong..

I think second to tiltcontrol and focus this is the most important thing in the mental game of microstakes and moving up.. Dont treat money as money. We need to be able to distance ourselves from the value of 25$ and see it as chips we use in a game to make more chips..

I met a guy who used to play online rpgs and he told me how he looked at his stack as his army. The more soldiers the more pressure he could apply and more of the game could be won..

I acually played a table yesterday when all i basicly did was 3bet in position and cbet, and walked away with 2 buyins more in my roll. I had a few valuehands aswell but it really felt like that was my game. 3bet cbet Win.. my 3b% was 27 in 164 hands..

Find exploits this way.. Play it until it almost feels spewy and wrong.. If it works dont stop doing it. If it doesnt work just go back to the fundamentals that got you here.. ABC fundamentals and playing TAG poker..

I'm happy for you man but

Bluffs dont work..

Is not really true at all. It's all highly situational. From a technical standpoint people are massively overfolding in some spots whilst massively overcalling in others.

The broader picture you paint is fine and generally works because everyone is making so many EV mistakes across the tree it doesn't matter that we're not maximising EV in every spot, but the general idea that you can't or shouldn't bluff the micros or fish is outdated or misconstrued. It's all about the context. (even stations will overfold weak lines)

Not hero-calling.. on the other hand. I'd say is usually correct, because nobody is bluffing anywhere near enough compared to solver. (although identifying aggro fish and calling super wide is immensely profitable)

Yeah and for sure im generalizing pretty hard in my post but i found it to be really successful to me.
For sure there are situational bluffs and situational herocalls But ABC NIT works to beat theese levels for sure.
