What worse hands does IP have that X flop, bet/call turn and call down vs this line?
What do we expect IP to do with value otr? What do we expect them to do with bluffs?
We're repping KQ, so it doesn't really make sense to me. A rare station might call off AJ or if we're lucky a passive JT/overpair but that seems less likely than a draw or something weaker like KJ/QJ, Tx, 9x, etc. I would rather bet large, b75, and target that lot to max EV. I would guess x-ing to induce works better than this nuts or nuthin' shove.
Actually, they can call down with any showdown hand if they think I am over bluffing. I think that the limit is over all too sticky. Also they are rather passive and don't pull huge buffs, so I need to take the incentive at some point. After XB Flop I think that my hand is strong enough to play for stacks, X-B-B doesn't accomplish that. X-B-XR might be a good alternative, because I let them bluff their busted draws, however, also let them see the next card cheaply. Do I understand you correctly. You suggest X-B75-B? and as played on the Turn X-XR150-X?
At 5NL you're trying to turn a near top set into a bluff and/or hero call w/ worse, when you're beat by two reasonable hands that are in opponent's range?
You're way over thinking this. Just value bet the river. Hope they have 2pair/sets they call with.
Flop check is fine if villain c-bets a lot, but here it misses value. Youβre ahead of almost everything and can start building a pot. As played, the turn raise is good but the river shove overrep, youβll fold out too much.
This is actually a very cool and advanced line in other spots.
When OOP vs skipped cbets it makes sense to check some very strong hands and apply maximum pressure against a capped delayed cbet by check-raising >ps and jaming river.
Middle and bottom set are particularly good because they block the double check back range.
So F.e. imagine you are in BB
Stacks:100bb
Dealt to Hero: 99 / 77 / 66
CO raises 2, 2bb, BU fold, SB fold, Hero calls
Flop: 976r
Hero checks, CO checks
Turn: 2r
if you have 99 you block Villain's slowplayes(9x) and it's more likely that your opponent has a low pair or A high type hands. You block hands that are very likely to delay. So it's better to bet.
If you have 77 or 66 then you actually block hands he might check back again(7x, 6x) and it's more likely that your opponent has a slow played 9x type of hand that likely to delay. So middle and bottom set is better to slow play than top set.
If the card on the turn had been an ace, the line would have been really cool.
