- I usually fold J9s pre, but will occasionally open unless villain 3bets wide
- I feel okay about everything up to the turn. Even with 2.5:1, I think I should've folded
- Looking back, against this villain, is a jamming the river reasonable?

J9s is a pure open SBvsBB, unless BB is a real 3bet maniac. Them 3betting "wide" would not be a reason to fold J9s: when you open they will still fold 43o (free money for you), sometimes call sometimes 3bet 9T (hand you dominate), etc etc
When villain 3bets J9s is a 4bet or a call in theory (postflop will be tricky but this is SB destiny to play tricky postflop hands vs BB)
Study GTOw preflop charts, do not deviate from pure actions (situations where the chart does not mix between multiple options raise/call/fold) unless you have a solid read on your opponent.
I'm really bad SBvsBB postflop, but my 2cts: your hand is rather garbage on the flop, I don't see the point of betting that big. If you get called there aren't many cards you are very happy to see on the turn, and the pot is growing quickly. Out of position we need to do quite some checking, and we balance our garbage check/folds with some check/calls (let's say you have Q7 for example) and some check/raises (89 with backdoor flush draw, KK, I am not too sure)
On the turn even worse: villain called a big bet on the flop, signalling they are not too concerned playing a big pot, your fold equity seems slim. If you really want to go for it maybe overbet 110% and jam any spade or club river.
Donk jamming river could be fun, but probably total spew.
Preflop: easy open, make it even 3 bbs, unless BB folds underdefends, so then you can steal even more with lower sizing
Flop: check/fold - that's it. That flop isn't particularly great for you, he can have plenty of Kx and tons and tons of mid pair/GS/OESD/BDFD, that will be absolutely welded to this board. Sure, it's good to have a betting range with:
- very strong hands (sets, two pair, maybe TPTK)
- very strong draws (98s/54s/85s with BDFD), especially combo draws
- the best bluffs that have some potential, like GS+BDFD, maybe QJs with BDFD -> every T will give you OESD
And also some x/c range, that withstand some heat, like:
- TPGK
- under pair (QQ-88)
- same with 87s -> here you have 5 outs to trips/two pair + every 9 and 5 will give you OESD + potential BDFD + you have some SD value
Then, as you go and as the board develops, you leave out draws that had the potential but won't realize it, but keep the pressure with top value + great draws. Check/call range will also diminish to TP or pair+OESD/FD.
This J9s doesn't have any of these qualities. Remember, you don't have to win every hand 😀 Especially if he folds to a lot of steals. This time he didn't and your hand's role ends right there. Your opponent will have more opportunities in the future to pay you back 😉
Even considering folding J9s pre from the SB is a huge leak. Fix your preflop fundamentals and basic understanding first.
