Increasing non showdown winnings
Hello!
I have been profitable in NL100 for more than 100k hands, winning at 8bb/100. My problem has always been non showdown winnings. At first I was clear loser, losing 7ish bb/100. Kept working on my game and have been able to increase it to 1.5bb/100. Now I feel like I have hit the wall. I know non showdown winnings dont matter the green does. By the looks of it many of the best players are clear redline winners and losing/breakeven blueline.
I just cant wrap my head around how they manage to do so.
Here are some of my own thoughts on how to increase my redline:
- valuebet more thinly, especially on river.
- hammer more aggressively on boards which favor my range.
- RFI more, especially from CO and BTN.
- defend blinds more by 3betting especially versus late position opens.
Please shoot down my thoughts if you see that they are invalid. Ideas are welcome and would be very interested to hear some redline winners thoughts.
And yes "dont ever fold and just bet/raise and redline will increase", been there done that

- check raising flop OOP more often when you have decent equity against villain's range
- triple barrel with big sizing (e.g. overbets) against capped ranges e.g. TPTK are top of villain's range
- mix in 4bet bluffs in blind vs blind spots
Not folding has maybe even the biggest effect. If you fold your red line always goes down.
you have a positive red line wr and 8bb wr overall. don't worry about it
