Recommend me some good Hip-Hop OOT
I've been listening to Hip-Hop for since I was 11 (19 years ago), but the number of tracks on my iPod from 2002 onwards is pretty minimal.
Basically a lot of the 'Hip-Pop' that seems to be out these days doesn't really do it for me. I'm from the UK and don't have music channels on my TV, and stuff that gets on the radio seems to be pretty mainstream.
I guess I'm pretty ignorant as to what is out there these days, and I know the U.S. has plenty more specialist TV and radio stations, so throw some recommendations my way - it seems there's plenty of Hip-Hop afficionados on 2+2.
I'm a big fan of East Coast stuff from the 90's - Das Efx, Mobb Deeps 'The Infamous' album, anything Redman, Jeru, Lords of the Underground, Black Moon etc etc,
From more recent years Mos Def, Talib Kweli ('Move Somethin' is the sh1t), Pharoahe Monch.
Also like a bit of French Hip-Hop, but know nothing about the scene - Kheops' 'Sad Hill All Stars' is awesome, and I've got a bit of Saian Supa Crew but that's about it.
And to any Kiwis out there, I've got King Kapisi's 'U can't resist us' which I love - he got anything else I might enjoy?
What I'm NOT looking for - Tracks like the recent 'This is Why I'm Hot' - I gather this was a big hit in the states? Makes me sad to think that this is what Hip-Hop has evolved to but, whatever, one mans trash is another mans treasure.
Oh, and no crunk.
Thanks in advance,
Baintz

Older 50 on the Jake One banger that De La and MF Doom used.
Banger from his album when he moved to No Limit.
Above The Law - Call It What U Want
Another classic G-Funk track from ATL. 2Pac opening with a great reference to his Same Song verse is one of my favorite things. The music video has some great cameos, too.
Classic track with one of my favorite Pun verses.
Solid track from some of his newer stuff. Disposable Arts is still one of my favorite albums so I should probably check this. Marco Polo is an insane producer, too.
O.C. - Dangerous (Feat. Big L)
"I use a chrome gat to push domes back, watch how you talk when you call me, feds got the phone tapped"
Classic.
Sapient is honestly one of the most talented dudes ever to me. He makes all of his beats, too, and they're all insane.
Classic track with one of my favorite Pun verses.
Nice. I have some old stuff I keep around my Spotify playlist like “It’s So Hard”.

I have been completely obsessed with this whole beef since it started. I'm a massive Kendrick fan and a huge Drake hater, so it's been a blast in that regard. The whole thing has been thoroughly entertaining, but the discourse around it has been fascinating. The two people I've been watching the most are FD Signifier (probably the best YouTuber in the game right now) and another named lil' Bill and both have had a lot of important things to say about it.
This video just came out, and was recorded right before all hell broke loose. It was when Kendrick dropped Euphoria (and won) and before the response. Next week is the follow-up where they talk about everything afterwards, so that will be fantastic.
