Online dating thread
I started this as a thread where 2+2 members could share advice on online dating. I'm 25 years old, and have had trouble finding a GF in person, so I've decided to try the online route.
I admittedly have no game when it comes to girls, as I'm a natural shy person, so I'll mostly be on the receiving end of the knowledge. As I improve, I'll share the wealth. :-)
From poker I've learned how helpful it is to have an advisor to give you advice and encouragement, and sympathize with you when you fail.
For starters, what are the best sites out there for free, and what sites are worth laying the money down for a subscription ? I'm on POF and OKcupid.
been in columbus ohio for about a week
first 2-3 days were great - was like 75% swipe right
but it's clear that they stacked the good ones near the top because last few days have been about 80%+ swipe left, it's not unheard of for me to go 50 straight left swipes
matches have been few and far between, not even getting inundated with likes and "the 400 pound woman was a match, sure you don't want to pay for premium and go back and match with her" stuff - which is interesting because i have not updated my pics since i created this profile when i was 39 so it's still 39 year your old rick but 41 year old status
more incentive to "start over" with 38-39 as an age once i find where i actually settle if i don't make any headway
one indian girl who was very cute that i matched with and we made some good progress on talking suddenly ghosted then unmatched me - we were talking about stuff and audiobooks came up from me, she said she'd never done audiobooks so i implored her to check it out (i know i drop made game, girl must have been dripping wet) and when she asked for tips i said that she should start out on very basic plotline stuff to start because it's harder to maintain focus on audiobooks if the plot is complicated so i suggested simple stuff like harry potter to start and then most on to other more complicated stuff later
she stopped responding
the next day i noticed she unmatched me

Could've been something dumb like she thought you were implying she's an idiot with the "you should start with very basic plotlines".

This is so damn funny. I just imagine them getting beat, pepper sprayed, or tased by the cops because they thought your friends were trying to punk them

I worked at a medical office in a previous job and reveled in the celebrity name patients we'd get in each week - off the top of my head, I remember we had a few Michael Jacksons, Betty White, Emmitt Smith, John Doe, Jane Doe, Montel Williams, Eddie Murphy, Steve Martin, and David Berkowitz

fortunately it was in the UK where the cops are civilised and they were only brought in for being drunk idiots stealing traffic cones or sth stupid, but they definitely faced some heat

It means a subset of guys know they’re going to a place where women are generally more socially conservative, but get drunk with the power of their newfound attractiveness, bang as many girls as they can, mistreat and disrespect them, and also give westerners a bad image

Girls in conservative societies are well aware that men have immoral urges, and they are aware that liberal men are less likely to see these things as immoral. That's exactly why they go for those men rather than some confused, sorry conservative, guy who thinks they're immoral at the same time they're doing them and won't kiss a lady between the legs because "yuck".
Same in Europe. The church girls can make more sense of being tempted by a devil than by an angel.
Either way. If we're talking about Thailand then they have enough information to choose and know what they're getting into. If its some remote village in Laos or Burma then I'd agree with you more.

Not sure where you got that from. I was just saying that Thai women, from what I’ve heard/read, will often want to be exclusive with someone a lot quicker and this attitude will be at odds with a lot of western guys’ intentions.
I’m obviously not saying every guy needs to go over there and only date one woman at a time, just to be more transparent about what they want than if they were dating in the west. I’m sure there are still a lot of Thai women who are open to just short term too.
When I go out there, I’d feel pretty bad if I had a couple of dates with someone, she got into me and she felt like I was open to long term as a result of me not being clear about what I was looking for. Of course, it’s always possible that she infers my intentions wrongly despite me thinking I was being clear though

Ok, but that conflict of the woman getting a guy to commit and the guy trying not to get tied down is something that has been common in all countries for all time and is part of human nature. It may even be a fundamental part of how attraction works.
And spolier alert, in the commitment battle, the women often win.
