*** Official OOT Less Important Than George Michael RIP Thread ***
Here's a catchall thread for condolences for all your George Michael and below subchampions. May they all RIP.
RIP Alla
I followed his group for several holes at a tournament years ago. He never stopped talking, and I never stopped laughing. Such a great guy for the game!

Thanks for clearing that up Tom. I thought Les Nessman played by Richard Sanders had died. According to the interline, Richard is about 84 years old and alive and well.

IFC is playing reruns of Night Court at my lunchtime some days. I'll occasionally flip it on.
I'm surprised that I haven't seen any that ring a bell--I thought I remembered watching it pretty regularly back in those days. Also surprised at how formulaic it seems now.
Anyway, there was a clip episode where Richard Sanders played some kind of auditor questioning many of the expenses submitted by judge Stone's court. Of course, he was excellent in that role.
It might not have been Rodriguez, but I recall some golfer of that era being asked to do if they were caught on the course in a thunderstorm.
"Take your one iron out of the bag, hold it over your head, and head to the nearest shelter."
When asked why he would hold a metal object over his head during a thunderstorm, the answer was:
"Even God can't hit a one iron."
Was pretty sure that was Lee Trevino. Confirmed by internet.
If you are caught on a golf course during a storm and are afraid of lightning, hold up a 1-iron. Not even God can hit a 1-iron. Lee Trevino
Your loves in Jeopardy, baby, since Greg Kihn died today.
One of Weird Al's best parodies, IMO.
Also Peter Marshall, I'm listening to
for the stories. That guy saw some ****ETA: Greg Kihn used to do morning radio in the Bay Area. Occasionally had old rockers on as guests, telling stories. He had Eddie Money on one day and he was telling a story about how he was in a bar in BFE that was having a karaoke contest, so as a joke he went on stage and did Two Tickets to Paradise and came in second. I thought that was both hilarious and sad
Trivia for you old music nerds out there.
The front man for this band died at the age of 86. They hold the record for the shortest song to reach #1 at just 1 minute 32 seconds in 1960.
Can you name the singer, band or the song?
👍
I've heard that song thousands of times and had no idea it was that short.
I'm gonna guess the reason some people (like me) didn't know that song was so short is because they've only heard it in commercials?
If you want to hear "Stay" extended to over 9 minutes you have to backload a version of it by enjoying Jackson Browne sing "The Load Out and Stay."
I haven't listened to that in ages. Thanks ladybruin!

Great song! I had the album Running On Empty on vinyl in college. It got played start to finish a lot.
Speaking of vinyl, I had 4 milk crates full of albums that somewhere in the late nineties I sold in a garage sale for $20 for the whole lot. Because, you know, CDs are the future of music and some sucker just paid me to hall off these obsolete albums. One of the few things I've gotten rid of in my life that I wish I still had. 😡
Me too on the vinyl. Unfortunately, iTunes on Windows doesn't seem to let you tie multiple songs together. Since it's physically two tracks on the CD, in this digital world, I only get half when it happens to spin up.
Nobody mentioned Mr Marlo Thomas? King of Daytime Television for ~26 years. I can remember being pissed off at my mother for interrupting my daytime cartoons (re-runs) in the 70's to watch his show. RIP Phil Donohue.

This makes me so angry on the streaming services. None of them combine the required two tracks into one for any of the songs. I'm too lazy to look up the songs but INXS, Journey, Led Zeppelin and that all have examples. Not a candidate for the pissed off thread.

Oh, snap. That one's gonna sting a bit.
Such a pro...I love this movie, but let's face it, it's not exactly high art, but James Earl Jones just leans into it the whole way. RIP
