Pretty interesting indeed! I guess I think it matters slightly how many chips Btn has - if he only has a little more than you I think that should impact his range a lot. Anyway, once you raised you were more or less committed (I guess if he is pat and you whiff you can maybe fold right away). I think I am in the D2 camp also, though there is certainly an argument for D1 (and I do not think there is really any argument for D3)

I think d2 as well. Hero is pretty handcuffed by stack size, so he loses out of on most of the standard benefits from d1. That hero can save just enough chips for another hand seems crucial.

I think one of us is reading it wrong. He puts in 1.5 big bets with 0.75 left preflop, there is no getting away from it. So I think being all in keeping the 9 is better (villain will incorrectly break some things first draw and if he makes a good hand we lose no additional money)

Yeah, I am never folding here. I guess if I take 2, brick, and Villain is pat, I can get away. No other way I can fold.

Not a great situation, but you have to open and have to d2. Pretty much never draw to a 9 first draw when you have an 8. Only draw to 72 rather than 872 multiway. The fact that you are going to be allin is more reason to d2 rather than d3, as there are fewer bets for a big hand to take advantage of. Also, more reason not to fold at any point.

Ok, thanks all for the input. I did consider d1, but eventually settled on d2. A friend wanted to d3, but I thought that wasn't best.

Villain made a 9, and I paired on my last draw with 8752...

I figured this was a bust out hand. Not really an interesting situation otherwise. Did villain d1 or d2 on the first draw?

Drew 2. I thought it was interesting, since the dead BB would weaken our ranges. Add in my short stack, and Villains tend to isolate that stack a little wider. That is why I considering D1, since I am a big favorite to make a 9, and my 8's won't be great. Seeing V make a Ten reinforced that thought in my mind...

Sorry, he made a T, and I would likely have made a 9...of course the draws would have been different.

It is closer with d1, because you don't have RIO because you are going to be allin. However, you don't know if he is going to d1 or pat first draw.

Yes, that is why I strongly considered D1. Never playing to make a 9 here with chips behind.
