Hmmm - no bourbon thread?
my body really isn't recovering as well as it used to after scotch, so I've started dipping my toe into Bourbon waters.
Its not a 2018, its Batch 18, which is from 2022.
Solid pick up though. I have a batch 11 in the vault with a state single barrel pick as well.
This has been a very slow year, just a few pick ups here and there. I was hoping to get a Jack 14 or at least a new Jack 12 but no luck so far. Secondary markets are pretty slow as well
You're right... batch 18.
My bad.
I will keep my eyes open for a bottle of that redwood here in vegas
Corn, rye, wheat, and malted barley?
We're at war. Pick a side.
Investments or for enjoyment (sharing?)?
Tried to source a Russell's 15 and a Weller 107 today... no luck.
The big box liquor store by me apparently doesnβt put Buffalo Trace or Eagle Rare on the shelves. You have to ask and there is a limit of 1 per customer.
Whereas I live in the UK and Amazon will next day deliver as much BT and ER as I want for USD$24 and $42 respectively. Weird.
Just wish we had similar access to the less well-known bottles posted.
not in the country of origin... must be a local thing.
I've seen 400-450 online on the Russell's 15... not sure if it is worth it though.
I am hopeful msrp or +100$ at some point in the future. the guy I got the redwood from told me he would put me on the list for both Michters 10 and Russell's 15.
Mochtets is legit, and I get it at MSRP semi-regularly. Been wanting to try Blanton's, but not at secondary market prices.
I tried to negotiate on a jack Daniel's 14... they wanted 500 for it... basically similar to a Russell's 15.
I am close on a michters 10 bourbon.
I picked up another Haystack Needle, 4 total now. Grabbed an EH Taylor Straight Rye and a WT 101 8 year as well.
I am being drawn to a barrel strength Rye, maybe a Michters... we'll see.
I found a new liquor store near me with an OUTSTANDING collection on hand of nearly every allocation grail I can think of or want. The problem is, they want 3x to 4x of msrp. It sucks.
He had a Weller 107 ive been looking for on hand, but wanted $260 for it. I tried to work a deal on a stagg 24b, that Elijah 18, the weller 107 but the guy would not budget on price. He also had a Jack Daniel's 14 i need, but wanted $499. Full papy Van Winkle line, and buffalo trace antique line... not only that, he has multiples of everything mentioned above.
I just took that Elijah 18 and I found my own Weller 107 on line for $135...
If you are going to hunt I would highly recommend getting the Borboneur app. Its 25$ a years I think and shows you secondary prices for most bottles. It can keep you from spending too much at a store when you can pick it up from a Facebook group
do you have any groups?
Ive been looking at unicorn Auctions.
Local groups are better than national unless you are looking for something niche or are willing to pay top dollar.
Unicorn auctions is solid but typically a little bit on the high side due to the service fees
drinking a bookers tonight. miss you guys <3
