old and new look ...
no idea if this is the right place, didn't know where else to put it:
why are some threads in the new look, and others are not?
why am i not logged in (when clicking on a thread in new look) although i'm logged in with the old one?

You'll actually find your answers there in the FAQ about the new forum. CLIFFs, it's actually a completely separate forum on a new server with new software. They've just built it to talk to the old forum as much as they can. Threads started in the new forum only display that way and you can read them without being logged in on that forum, but you can't respond unless you do.
The idea is that people will gradually transition and the legacy forum will shut down, but right now people don't seem to be transitioning much.
It seems the people have spoken.
Because a terrible idea was implemented terribly.
I think the reason is because it SUCKS!!!!!!!! The few threads I have come across in the new style I just ignore as I find them awful to look at and try to read. Hopefully it never becomes the norm because that will likely end my 20+ year relationship with 2+2.

Sucks is not even the right word for the new look. It is worse than that.
