What podcasts do you listen to?
I travel a lot and I am beginning to prefer podcasts over audiobooks because the podcasts are typically an hour-ish long and easier to stay with. Right now I'm subbed to
-Norm MacDonald Live (he's ****ing hilarious, this one has only been out for a short time)
-Adam Carolla & Dr Drew (Adam has gotten a bit too political in recent years which has somewhat tapered my enthusiasm for this one, but I watched Lovelines a lot when it was on MTV and Adam still brings the laughs and has a good rapport with Drew)
-WTF with Marc Maron (he interviews comics in his garage, the recent interview with Hank Azaria was very good)
-Penn's Sunday School (Penn Jillette on religion)
-This American Life (from NPR, great stories from real life)
-Le Show (Harry Shearer's weekly show from NPR)
Are there any others that are can't miss?

Interesting Things Explained Well
Any recs for fictional podcasts that are completed? I have a lot of driving in my future and have canceled Sirius, lol. Scifi or horror, maybe? I don’t want to start something that’s ongoing though.
Not a podcast - but I listen to audiobooks quite a bit.
Tau Zero was great
Columbus Day is really good so far
The Mistborn series was pretty good (Fantasy - which I don't usually like - but was fun)
Fun fact - if you have a library card - Hoopla and or Libby offer free audio books (rather than paying a ton for audible) - and movies. Solid use of tax dollars.
Figured there would be a podcast thread, and look! It's been bumped, too. Started and finished 6 episode Killer In The Code from Michael Connelly (imma yuge Bosch fan, and some of the spinoffs, too). Amateur sleuth cracks two heretofore unconnected murder cases. Good ****, if a little repetitive. ~3hrs total, I think.
Crypto Critics Corner
A great podcast for a skeptics perspective on cryptocurrency.
Shoot The Messenger
Investigation of the NSO Group and Pegasus spyware.
Huberman Lab
Really in depth health info.
I'd like to revoke my Huberman Lab rec. It's actually just a douche who pretends to be an expert in an entire field of health/medicine after skimming through a few studies on pub med.
Odd Lots
Finance/investing
F*ck Buddies
Dating/sex advice from two canadian dudes.
At least he wasn't in the Epstein files (RIP Peter Attia).
i'm sure you guys recall history of rome, the chronological deep dive where each emperor got at least one hour of dedicated episode on them - with some getting several hours of treatment
the guy got burnt out and when the western empire fell, he decided the show had run its course, didn't want to invest in another 1,000 years of eastern rome and he drove off into the sunset
another guy decided to take up that mantle with the history of byzantium podcast, one which started pretty flat but over time he really learned and adapted and became an excellent story teller
but about halfway through, he started getting burned out - he didn't like spending 10 hours researching a half hour podcast and began pivoting away from the chronological order which was compelling and interesting to follow and instead went into interviews with other podcasters and history professors - the quality of those were garbage - he was also focusing more on how to drive revenue from the show as he wasn't making any money so the non-interview pods were focused on promoting tours of istanbul that he was arranging (would have actually loved to go, would have done it if i had been listening in real time) and then he just kinda stopped
so i'm super amped to see suddenly the show is back in my feed again, and in the old format - so now it's time to get riding again 😀
my guess is he's now using AI as a research assistant and that drastically reduces his hours
