Favorite Stand Up Comics
I couldn't find another thread about just stand up comedy, if it should be moved, so be it.
Just wanted to see who everyo
This was one of my favorite stand up albums when it first came out.
Alvin Kuai may be my new favorite (or tied with Sam Morril)
Very. Hopefully something interesting happens in the world within a day or 2 of the show. Iβm sure heβs headlining but I donβt know if he does an hour or so or written, then goes on one of his lengthy current event bits or what, but I think it will be worth it either way!
Confirmed still good. I didn't time it, but probably 80+ minutes. I might have heard one of his jokes before, but not exactly the same. He's doing 7-8 shows in Philly this weekend? Impressive.
Gary Owen is awesome.
saw jon crist last week
went in blind, from the start i didn't care for his delivery style, he was all about sound effects, reacting and laughing to his own jokes etc
but i could appreciate his craft as the audience loved it
had no idea he was from a very religious background, but it's like he's in on it, like he wasn't there preaching or anything, but he did include some rapture jokes etc
the weird part was when he was doing some crowd work and began talking about how religious his audience was and to prove that he began quoting scripture just to let the audience finish the last word in the line and that really took me back
however, i enjoyed it, he was funny, just wish he dialed back the presentation a bit
he had two opening acts, one was amazing, a guy named mason james who was amazing, definitely watch out for that guy
the other guy was awful, just awful, and later on he said he used to be a youth pastor before switching to comedy and immediately it was like "oh right that tracks" because he reminds you of the person in your life who regularly gets the microphone, thinks they are hilarious but aren't, and decide to have it and try to jazz it up with fun jokes
Semi grunching:
I love CK and Tosh. Any small names to look into that I might like along those lines?
King of crowd work
He’s great but Todd Barry is the king.
Liz Miele is pretty good
She’s probably my favorite “new” comedian. Saw the special she did before this latest one and really enjoyed it. She has 2 specials on Spotify, and since I cancelled that for Apple Music, I see that she has like 5 on there!! All of them are really good.
I love her bit about the cat and the washing machine.
I've been doing a deep dive on Ismo, since someone sent me this clip. It's not all as good as this, but his takes on the illogical side of English are all really funny.
^^ laughing to the point of tears before 9am
thanks π
that was was a funny ass clip
yeah i saw that on youtube randomly the other week, super funny
Matt Rife Christmas special on Netflix is a fun watch.
The new Chappelle special is better than his previous one, but it still has a bit of a whiny old man vibe.
Demetri Martin's latest netflix special called Demetri Deconstructed is solid gold start to finish, maybe his best work ever.
Bill Burr Drop Dead Years is classic Burr, not much else to say.
Sarah Silverman has a new special in which she talks about her dad and stepmom dying. Very hit and miss, as usual.

Nice, that is very funny.
Did not end the way I thought it would. I was writing the finish to the sketch in my head, centered around ***hole. Wondering how close I would get. His finish is great though.

Do any of you guys think you outsmarted one of your favorite comedians at a live comedy show?
