Throwback day? I miss this girl almost every day.

Zomg throwback day?

I fostered these two adorable sisters named Purina and Eukanuba and they got in a lil scuffle around the water bowl right after getting fixed so poor baby Eukanuba got her stitches busted open* and the vet was closing so they suggested I put one of my grandsons shirts on her. Luckily he was puppy-sized at the time. The little bit of blood mixed with the water from the bowl made the scene horrifying, lil puppies writhing in a sea of blood [emoji79]

*just the external stitches, not the ones holding her insides in. It happens.

Were they adopted by someone you know? How are they doing?

I rarely kept up with any dogs after they were adopted. One got certified as a Service Animal and that owner sent me xmas messages for years but mostly I'm very happy just to match up people and dogs and send them on their way.

But I always remember something special about each one.

Throw back to 2008. My boy PD, long since passed, but a great memory.

i bet when you pronounced it sounded like Petey
he looks like one to question every command for a logical reason

Nail on the head there, Red. PD was short for Poi Dog, which may be related to a favorite band from back in the day. As far as anyone else knew, it was Petey.

He was a very good boy.

in memory thereof... Pharaoh Hound.

Khepri Moon... Miss you buddy.

and we call ours feral coyote
especially after she scares up a beetle in the back yard

beautiful name mixing a morning sun god with the moon for a dog with egyptian cat face
i mean you must recognize a monumental omission of Khonsu, son of Amun and Mut,
unless of course you had another Pharoah Hound in mind

after full pause to recognize an amazingly cute puppy t-shirt photo opportunity

i'm sorry, comma, who the hell names a litter after popular pet food labels available with any chewy discount code

that was a HIGH maintenance dog... he was faster than the wind, could easily jump 6' in the air and was as strong than a elite level endurance trained 25 year old MSchu18.

we had good times.

When you foster, you need to name the animals something to keep it all straight, but they are "milk names" not meant to be used by whoever adopts them and chooses a name of their own. If you put too much effort into the milk names, it is one of the things that can lead to getting too attached to them, and you might not be able to handle letting them go, seeing their name changed, etc.

oh, i get it....the litter we got Niko from was the 'zodiac' litter and her name was Pisces

Yeah, on of our cats' milk name was "Tuxi." Because she's a tuxedo cat...

our previous pound pup was 'Dove'...he did look rather metro with black eyeliner.

When I was little, we had a black cat with white paws. His name was Four Paws.

if he was a white cat with black paws do you think you would have named him the same

I imagine so but honestly have no idea. I don't even know who came up with the name.

boots imo

sometimes the milk names stay. one of my dogs is called cabbie, I have no idea why. I retconned it into being short for caballero since he is such a gentleman.

what kind of camera are you using...

Not my pet. One of the regulars at the bar where I deal poker often brings his dog. He's kind of become the pet of everyone in the bar. Bob is a big Avs fan, thus so is Jersey.

I'm always in for dogs playing poker.

hear hear

That pup looks like my beloved Roxy dog. Never thought about teaching her to play poker though.

Puppy leak!

My Mini Schnauzer approves of her pics!
(I can tell because he is climbing all over me to put his face right up against my monitor.)
