ZOOOOOM v3
... Here we go again ๐
Hi 2p2,
I guess I just cannot keep away from this blogging stuff; I recently closed my last PG&C with no plans to re-open it, or make a new one, and it's taken just shy of a month to make a new one. ๐
Brief synopsis of V1 & V2:
(links to both: V1 & V2)
- grinded from 25z-200z (including some (failed) shots at 500z) on Pokerstars
- went pro (using the term somewhat loosely!)
- learned that Poker is actually really ****ing hard
- lost social life in every sense of the term (lol)
- made a best new buddy, Mirage01 ♥
Goals for 2018:
- 600k hands
- 5kNL
- to live a healthy life (I have no balance in mine atm)
I will aim to update weekly-fortnightly with a few HH's and how things are going. Expect complete transparency.
I hope this will inspire at least someone out there to go get it!
Lastly, my 2017 and 2018 results. Feel free to ask questions, I will get back to any with my updates.
2017:
2018:
Cheers & goooooood luck!!! ๐
Hello...
It's been a while. In fact, just north of two years since my last post in here, and four(!!!) years since my last proper update. Wow. I honestly hadn't realised it'd been that long.
Well, let's dust off the cobwebs and liven this up a little. My plan is simple; to share my journey. On the tables, and off, too.
Tbh, I've been eager to blog/share updates for quite some time, but as they say, the first step is always the hardest. So with a heavy hint of procrastination, I'll delay the more detailed update until next Sunday, along with a progress report of how this upcoming week goes.
See you then ๐
Must be hard to maintain a poker blog playing 13 min max sessions tbh
Gl
I dunno I mean it's true he's never been a volume guy but it feels like you're being a little unnecessarily mean, unlike doodoopoker I don't think Clanty has ever displayed any sort of arrogance that warrants this I guess
Much prefer him to just say he wants extra coaching students then ye...
Maybe Ur right fayth. Sorry for being extra mean.
shock, AV0 insta comes out with disdain. it's been OVER 10 years mate, sort your ****ing **** out
It's true... that I've not grinded as much as I should have in my career
***after some research, my last 400k hands come with 3evbb at avg. 1835NL. I'd have loved to quote better numbers, but these aren't too shabby either, given I've done virtually zero game selection throughout, with lots of reg battling (just 33% of this volume is 6-handed, and 47% is 2-4 handed)
What I'm getting at is: why does my volume bother you so much, if I'm still good enough to beat the games?
It's untrue... that I ever quit HU sessions prematurely, bar maybe 1 or 2 times
It's true... that I will promise to make sure to continue this blog poker blog, showing some sort of reasonable volume
It's untrue... that I revived this blog to gain extra students
***why wouldn't I have done this sooner / ... wait for it... post in the COACHING section instead of PGC'ing
It's true... that I have spent a lot of time filling out my IRL leaks/responsibilities over the past couple years. And it's true... that I'm finally really happy with my situation and ready to dedicate more time to the grind
It's true... that we @AV0995 should probably play some HU... I will even offer to pay our rake.
It's true... that I don't remember ever personally attacking you @AV0995, in fact I've always said how good of a player you are, yet you made it your prerogative to change your PS avatar to my face, and post just 3 minutes after a 4-year update hating on me. Honestly, why?
... anyway, if you want to virtually shake hands and move on, I'm happy to. And if you want to play some HU, I'd also love to.
Cheers
Hu4rollz is the only resolution
I agree. Fight each other hu4rollz.
Hey Clanty, hope you're good fella. Looking forward to the life update. Hope you and the family are well.
Nice to see the thread restarting. Have enjoyed your content over the years. Good luck
you can short this out through a fidget spinner battle !
Hi 2p2,
Update time. I'll split this post into three sections. In case you are only here for Poker, please skip the first two sections:
I: Life Updates
II: What I'm up to
III: This Week's Pokering
---
I. Life Updates
So, where to begin? As mentioned in my post last week, my last proper update was four years ago ๐ฎ. In that time I:
โข met and married my beautiful wife, Maanya
โข had my first child, a boy, Reyaan -- more on him later
โข purchased my first house in the UK
โข lost a bunch of weight. At my heaviest I was around 125kg, now ~86kg
โข learned to drive
โข trivial to some; fixed my sleeping schedule. I noticed upon reading some of my older posts that I was struggling a lot with this. That seems like half a lifetime ago now
โข became a RIO Elite coach
Family:
An update I can post with a smile. Before meeting Maanya, I didn't have much of a family. No parents, just my Grandma and Aunt whom I've always been close with. As such, my relationship with what family means to me has had some developments over the past few years. Before, frankly, my view was quite cold; both your parents walking out on you can have that effect. However, after meeting Maanya, and eventually her parents and family, that has changed. And of course, having Reyaan. Maanya is Indian, too, and what they say about Indian families being close is quite an understatement. To Indians, friends and family are everything, the loyalty to each other nothing short of admirable. Really. So I went from 0-100 pretty quickly, which at the time was an unexpected learning curve, but in hindsight, a blessing I am very thankful for.
Maanya and I wedded March '23, and Reyaan came a little later, Sept. '23, on Maanya's birthday ๐. Already looking for buy one, get one free cake deals. ๐. Having Reyaan has been, well, honestly, incredible. He's just a total ray of sunshine for me, like nothing I could have possibly expected. I'd always wanted and looked forward to having kids, but man, after having my first, it turns out they are 1000x more awesome than what I was hoping for. ๐

II: What I'm up to
As of the past few months, things have finally settled down. Now in a typical week I am dividing my time between, and in no particular order:
โข Playing, Studying and Coaching Poker
โข Making RIO content
โข Badminton/Swimming
โข Family time
Studying happens mostly on Monday's, which is my dedicated study day. Tuesday-Sunday I play 3 hour sessions in the AM, totalling 18 hours a week.
Monday-Friday I head down to a sports club to play badminton and swim. Not only is this overall great for my health, I thoroughly look forward to it, too, and perhaps most importantly of all, it takes place right after my poker grind, which works as a great distraction, esp. after bad sessions.
Other than that, I now naturally have far more responsibilities being a husband and a father, so I try to keep all work stuff in the AM, so that I'm mostly free for the PM hours to help out. Each Sunday we've been taking Reyaan for swims, which has been lovely to see. ♥

III: This Week's Pokering
01/07/2024 - 07/07/2024:
I had three goals for this week:
โข [✅] Flowstate during sessions
โข [✅] 21 hours
โข [✅] 5k hands
Overall I am happy with my effort this week. I had a session with my mental game coach, who helped me to realise and put into place a few things to help my performance at the tables. So far, the results from this have been promising. It's early days, however, I am EXCITED!

You may notice I've removed my hand count goal. I surmise that instead of counting hands played, perhaps counting VPIP's (hands played * VPIP%) goal may be more fitting, as some days I am mostly playing ring, other days exclusively HU if I find a villain to play versus. Naturally on HU days my hands/hr are significantly lower, but overall VPIP's in fact higher. Which one matters the most? I'm not sure. VPIP has a pretty linear correlation with WR, though. I've not yet got solid metrics for VPIP count, will keep an eye on it over the next few weeks. This week was 5234 hands * 48% VPIP = 2512 VPIP's.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed. Feels good to be writing on my Pokering again! See you next week ๐

Hey Ponty, thank you very much ๐
Likewise ♥
Thank you man, I really appreciate it. Glad you have enjoyed.
Hahaha, I totally forgot about the fidget spinner battles man, I must be getting old
damn the jam with 77 is wild, his call is even more wild lol
congrats btw, beautiful family
Just looked at the 77 as you had me curious. It is a std shove OTR. 44 also shoves, and 22 only w/ the flush blocker. However, 77 is checking turn almost every time so looks like a fortunate mistake in hindsight
Ok sorry for the previous messages, these pictures are adorable! Congrats !
Looking good also!

No worries man, and thank you very much ๐
hey bud good to see you back! congrats on the son and wife and losing so much weight. IDk whats harder, kids or losing weight haha
First, welcome back and thanks for the update. Congratulations on having a son, getting married, and losing weight. You've done a lot!
Secondly, a question for you--have you found it difficult to keep up with poker while having a kid? Is your wife or family watching your son when you play during the mornings or how do you coordinate getting volume and other work done?
fkn clean update! not sure what's more impressive; wife, kid or you actually sitting down and playing poker ๐ <3
