Can a live pro make 50k in a year playing online poker?
Hello everyone,
I'm here to set some new poker goals and document my progress along the way.
Poker Goals:
-make 50k profit from online poker in the next 12months (hopefully in less than 300k hands)
-play at least 300k hands of 500NL online in the next year
-keep a good work/life balance (<45 hours/week working including study time)
-take one day per week to study and review my online HH
-find at least 1 struggling live player to coach/mentor this year
A little background about me... I've been playing poker professionally since 2018 mostly in the Las Vegas casinos. I got married last October and for the first time in 3 years I took some time off from poker. During that time I realized that the live poker lifestyle was really detrimental to my long-term happiness. I was making a lot of money but the lifestyle was not fulfilling for me. I wanted to find some new challenges in poker while at the same time keep a good work/life balance. So in February I challenged myself to make a living playing exclusively online. Since then I have struggled to make money, but I've done a lot of work to fix the leaks in my game. I'm ready to set some goals and I'm open to hearing any feedback from the community which might help along the way.

Long overdue final results from last year…
It was long overdue but I wanted to still post an update here for anybody who was following. I think the 50k goal is highly achievable playing online in Nevada or any other state where online poker is legal. Focusing on one type of game is hugely important, mixing NL and PLO just makes it way too complicated, that’s my biggest takeaway. If I had hit my hour goals for April May and June I think it’s a guarantee I would’ve surpassed my goals. Moving forward though I realized that live poker is just so much more profitable so that’s where I will put my full focus.
