2024 Poker Journey: Another attempt at getting good at poker.
I have been playing poker for a few years now though haven't played much in the last 4 years. I did open a few threads with similar challenges before but never completed or took them seriously. Now I am looking to get better at the game and play regularly. Will be playing mostly on Indian sites and CoinPoker at NL2 and NL5.
In preparation for the new year I have played last week and these are the results.
Initial Bankroll - INR 6450 (Deposited on Indian Sites)

Results are tracked in excel as not all sites I play on have trackers.
On coin poker I did manage to get a ticket from a freeroll satty and then got 4th place in the tournament for $24.
So at the beginning of 2024 I have about 10 buyins for NL5 (INR 2/5) on one site where it is the lowest stake and 7 for NL2 (INR1/2) on another site. On CoinPoker I will keep playing freerolls and will start cash once I have 10 buyins for NL5.
This is not enough from a bankroll perspective though I intend to add to some other sites once I am in the groove of multitabling more than my current limit of 3.
Targets for 2024:
Main target for the year will be play 250k hands.
I am tightening up my preflop play and to that regard I found this website called FreeBetRange which allows us to create our own ranges preflop. I have created a basic range for myself based on the various charts I have found on the internet, and its tighter than recommended but with most pots being multiway at NL2/NL5 I am trying to keep things simple.

Been a couple of months since my last post, at the beginning of February I had to travel and with Online Poker banned there my habit of poker got broken and I hardly played any hands in February and March. I have been studying a bit though.
This weekend I played live for the first time in ages. Last I played was before the Covid 19 days, so it was a very exciting experience. I played about 16 hours across 3 days and managed to make INR 6800 on the INR 5k buyin tables. It was the lowest stakes cash tables I could find.
It is a massive confidence booster, and while I don't have the bankroll to keep playing live games at these stakes, I would love to play live once in a while.
My drivehud trial has ended so that also needs to be bought if I want to play online. Or I might stick to the sites where Hand2Note works.
End of April Update:
Online play has been fairly minimal in the last 3 months. I played about 5400 hands for a profit of about 1200 INR so nothing much to write home about.
I have continued to play live this past month playing over 60 hours and making about 6bb/hr. This has been mostly me running good and the live tables being soft.
I have invested in DriveHud today and ordered Peter Clarke's From The Ground Up. Lets hit the online felts in May
May Update:
Interesting month of May for me, this month I played 6 sessions with an average of 500+ hands each session. Volume is less for sure, however I am playing when I am feeling like playing and not because I need to play. This has definitely been great for my mental health. In this 6 sessions I have dabbled in NL5, NL10 and NL25 and I am yet to find my comfort zone.
In order to play NL25 I did deposit 20000 INR into one of the sites. It is a significant financial commitment but to think of it as just 8 buyins at those stakes has been humbling. As a result I dropped down to NL10 after playing just 1 session at NL25. 20 buyins feels a lot more comfortable than 8. On the flip side, I am now adequately rolled for NL5. Ofcourse these are via deposits and not winnings but we got to walk before we can run.

Study
I have watched the first 3 episodes of From the ground up last month. Its a very dense course, 15 minute episodes have lot of information. I will target to finish the next 10 episodes this month.
Results
Nothing much to write home about here, the results are all over the place.
Was profitable in NL5 but lost in NL10 and NL25. The 20k deposit had a 5k locked bonus which I have been able to unlock 50%. This has meant I have managed to keep the month's losses low. I might have to keep using reload bonuses to keep losses low.

June Plans
This month the target is to play 5000 hands in 10 sessions. Main game will be NL10 unless I continue to get hammered there. In May, I lost at -85bb/100 at NL10 and my immediate target will be to cut down that rate to below -30bb/100.
