From lurker to blogger...

From lurker to blogger...

First things first, I will introduce myself.

I have been living in Brussels, Belgium for the past 15 years. I can say IÂ’ve a pretty good situation, a good job paying decent money, a lovely wife and 2 adorable kids. 😊 IÂ’m enjoying life as much as I can, and I certainly canÂ’t complain.

However, Poker is always in the back of my mind. IÂ’ve been playing for a while, I started in 2007 and pretty tried everything, from SnG to MTT, from HU to 6 max CG, I played a lot of NLHE, PLO and even some mixed games.

As for live experience, IÂ’ve been playing with friends each month for the past ten years, your perfect friendly home games, lots of drinks, some illicit smokes and chips going all around. IÂ’ve also played in many casinos around the globe and spent a full week in Vegas with my wife (who used to play a lot)...told you she is lovely.

I’ve always been what I call a reasonable gambler…For as long I can remember, I always loved playing, cards games, video games and I would be the first one to take a bet…But the word “reasonable” is important, I love to gamble for money but I know how to limit my losses and to only play the money I can afford.

Reading the above, it could be seen as a (light) brag but why am I writing this and starting this blog? Here is the real story. 😊

IÂ’m the classic lurker, I read everything I can about poker, news, blogsÂ…I love reading stories and challenges on this forum, I read pages and pages, I vibrated following progresses, and I had my deceptions when people stopped posting so I told myself, itÂ’s time to contribute maybe in a different wayÂ…

I think IÂ’m not that different from many players, I built numerous bankroll and I always made cashouts or went busto because of a very limited bankroll management, a huge tendency to tilt (IÂ’ve a great sense of justice and I feel the biggest injustice when I keep loosingÂ…😊 😊😉

Overall, IÂ’m a winning player but I always laugh thinking of my hourly win rate, IÂ’d better work 10 hours a week at the factory!

I know itÂ’s good to say that I study my game and mental but in fact IÂ’ve the worst habits:
- I watch my results during the session (and not only onceÂ…)
- I canÂ’t stand having a losing session and want to finish in the green
- I play on the spot, not preparing my sessions
- Playing cash game, I use the cash out option (whaaaaaat?), this helps me a lot avoiding the tilt.

That being said, I know what I need to improve (the 1st step towards success)!

For this blog, I will start playing PLO10 and will tell you more in the next post.

yes it is, I know it and have to live with it but I like the running joke 😀

Thanks for the support, always appreciated

cruising speed mode activated...

Well I hope I will keep this pace for a while, I'm happy with the results so far but I have enough experience to know that it will be difficult to keep such a winrate, 8BB/10 with no rakeback is all I'm asking for, I'm enjoying the ride and feeling at ease at the tables. I know I could already move up but I set a challenge to myself and I want to reach this 1,5K$ mark. Slowly but surely.

I make this one short, I'm aware this is not the most interesting blog but it's all I have to say, happy with grind. 😀

here for the graphs:

and the recap:

"Rake me" would have been a great song title of Nirvana...

You prob already mentioned it, but on what site are you playing?

regular and I think table selction is KEY

I read so many run bad post...I feel a bit ashamed now... 😀

I'm sure you agree with this, as a serious reader of a lot of poker blogs, I find rare the graphs, stories, where players are running extremely good. Maybe because we are all afraid of the judgement: "What a luckbox" "No skills, pure luck". But come on! At some point we all ran good and we just don't like to showcase or we always forget and prefer to focus on the next downswing.

Well, I've decided to enjoy this moment when everything is going smoothly and my way...It's so good to feel untouchable and to make all those whales pay back. Yes, there is some kind of revenge feeling in this.

I honestly can't think of specific good beat or 1/2 outers (because yes we tend to forget those hands) but I have to remind once again that I'm using the "Cash out" option, not bragging about it because I know there no statistical reason to do so but it has helped me a lot to reduce variance and to keep my mental high.

I'm still able to put some volume in the weeks to come and I will then spend a month in Bali (Luckbox again)...I take the opportunity to ask if any of the shadow reader has any information on this beautiful island regarding ability to play online poker?

Here are the graphs:

and the recap:

Almost reach the 2K$ Rake mark...should I cry?

Running good feels great, glgl.

There are much better ways reduce variance and keep mental high, F.E. playing a bit lower and having bigger Bankroll. And both of those are much cheaper in already high rake games.

I have some regs (s**t-reg) that take cashout and I play slighly diffrent strategy vs them.

Good to know reg can adapt to cash out strategy! I will have to be careful, but at PLO25 most of players are clicking buttons 😀

Confidence is high, resilience is key...

Lets change a bit the format, I will post the graph right away

As you can see, this set of hands didn't start the way I would have like but as I've already played a fair amount of hands, I KNOW, this can't last and I have enough confidence to be convinced things will turn down. Well that doesn't mean that I didn't get frustrated or that I didn't not shout or insult an opponent from time to time 😀 but as I'm not trying to climb back playing higher stakes or launching spins and I just stick to the plan, I manage to get out of this hole.

One month left till I go to Bali with the Family, I will try to continue to put the volume and to to reach this first 1,5K$ milestone.

I have to say I can't wait to play higher stakes but it's part of the process to reach a certain goal and to not rush things. I also want to be sure to be correctly rolled for PLO25.

GL to all

and the recap:

Should I stop the running jokes about rake amount? you tell me 😀

Well...you can't always run like god...

It seems that i can"t start a set of hands without digging a hole, it becomes so recurrent, do I need to be up against the wall to start playing better? I don't have the answer but I might need to review my warm up or my absence of warm up. 😀

I'm almost glad to be close to break even, as said before, I sometimes remember the times I went "full bananas" (Is there a copyright on this? 😀) and I'm happy the way I handle the bad session..but it's still fragile...

Short one today, hope you enjoy the blog.

and the recap:

I could go for a VPN to collect some rakeback...

Nice update.

Few pushups is what help me to be ready for battle(get the blod flowing).

Always appreciate your message DeeKayBee, it's good to know we are being read!

I was expecting nothing else than a Trade mark 😀

I'd suggest you play on ACR, coinpoker or apps or some sites where you can get rakeback.

Maybe at micro and low stakes you can beat the games for enough to get a decent winrate, but once you reach stakes where people are playing for a living, that extra 3-5bb/100 from rakeback will come in very useful.

If you ever want to go pro, getting rakeback in some way will be very important. Whether that be by playing on sites that give you some, relocating or for example getting some sort of sponsorship deal with a site (which would probably require you to stream or make some content).

Thanks a lot for the advises, I deeply miss the days with 40% rakeback deals and leaderboards races.

Subbed, really like how many veteran turns to PLO game 😀.

I want to restart my poker journey too but the rake at micro is insane, I don't know what site is good for starting to build a bankroll. Hate GG so much for their structure that drives out regs.

Updates?
