Live poker results and potential stake changes
Hi guys, this is my first post here! I am a for profit player who plays part time but am looking to increase my hours and become semi-pro. I have a day job that doesn't take much time so I have lots of free time for poker.
I have been playing for 10 years, but before 2023 I only played small home games. 2023 and 2024 I have started grinding local casino 1/3 games a lot, while still playing an average of 1 home game $60 BI tournament per week as well.
Here are my results so far, the initial sharp upward spike is where I started watching a lot more poker analysis videos online and going to local casinos early in 2023. My bread and butter are:
1/3 cash I have a winrate of $28.08/hr or 9.36BB/Hr
Home game Tournaments $50-100 BI I have a winrate of $26.81/hr or ROI of 113%
(These rates are higher if you eliminate 2021/2022 from my results, I won at $32.68/hr overall for all of 2023 across 600 hours and am at $30/hr for 2024)
I have access to some local home games run by someone I know and trust that are 5/5/10 and 5/10/20 with $1000 and $1500 respectively, and local casinos have $300 or so BI tournaments regularly. I also have never played 2/5 at my local casinos because there is a large core of regulars who play tighter and are much more skilled than many of the regular 1/3 players.
My question is, do you think I should try to take some shots at moving up, or should I stick to what I know and am comfortable with and keep grinding my current stakes?

If the games are good I'd go for it. Obviously start in the 5/10 rather than the 10/20. If your day job pays fairly well you can certainly handle a downswing much better than most.
If the home games ARENT that good then it depends just how ambitious you are. I doubt your hourly at 1/3 can ever improve much from where it's at so if that's a goal of yours then moving up is a necessity.
