I created a website to open source my poker results
Hello!
Longtime lurker here, first time poster (created a new account to go along with the website)
TLDR: I just created a website (www.clutchpokerresults.com) that tracks my poker results in real time that I wanted to share with you all.
Here's the backstory:
In April 2023 I left my job as a Consultant in New York City and moved to Florida to play poker full time.
I've been playing poker for ~10 years, first starting out just playing home games with friends and eventually playing more 1/3 and 2/5 at casinos. In the beginning I was terrible, but I put in a ton of work off the felt and eventually was winning at a decent clip. I always wanted to try playing full time just to see what it was like, so in April 2023 after saving up enough money (~$20k or so from just poker) I took a 6 month sabbatical from my job with the idea that it would serve as a test run of sorts to see if I could actually make a living playing full time.
At the end of the 6 months, I was actually down from where I started, and was initially planning to go back to work with my tail between my legs having failed at my dream of playing poker. I couldn't shake the feeling though that I should give it another shot, so I lasted only 1 week back at my job before quitting officially. That was back in October 2023, and fortunately things have gone pretty well since then and I plan on playing poker full time for at least another year or so.
When I was doing research on how much money I could realistically make playing full time, I was struggling to find something substantial that shows the finances behind professional poker players. How many days a week / hours did they typically play? What was their ABI? What kind of ROI can I realistically expect? The answers to these questions were a lot harder to find than I expected, so I wanted to create something to lift the veil a bit on what the finances of a professional poker player look like.
That's what led me to create this website: www.clutchpokerresults.com. I wanted to show people what the finances look like for a low to mid stakes tournament grinder like myself, and hopefully this can help provide other people with a template they can use to further their own careers.
Right now I'm actually about to leave for Vegas to play in the WSOP for the next ~3 weeks. I'll be updating this thread every day or so with updates on my tournament results, probably monthly recaps that go more in depth on my performance and documenting my journey on Instagram (clutchpoker) if anyone wants to follow along.
Thanks!

Very cool, hope you run good at WSOP 😀
Thanks! Appreciate that.
Alright, first update. Got to Vegas Friday night, Saturday I fired 2 bullets in the $400 Orleans daily with $40k Guaranteed. Great structure tournament that got like 350 entries, good to have some of those smaller field events on my schedule to balance out the massive field ones at the WSOP.
Anyway, ended up getting 4th place for $6300 and change, great way to start off the trip!
In the Milly Maker right now with 70k at dinner break. Let's hope we can find that first bag of the WSOP.
Alright, things going well so far! Got 19th in one of the Aria $800 buy in, $200k Gtd tourneys for like ~$4300 and then mincashed the $600 buy in PokerNews Deepstack Championship for $1200. So far up about $8300 the first few days in Vegas, fantastic start. Taking the day off today cause I'm exhausted after 4 straight days of playing poker from the morning until the evening. Back at it tomorrow, probably in the $400 buy in / $40k Gtd at MGM Grand but we'll see how I'm feeling.
Haven't posted in a while so wanted to give an update on how the WSOP is going - things have about held water since the last post. I bagged the $400 buy in, $100k Guaranteed NAPT Event at Resorts World and ended up getting 16th place for ~$2200, outside of that I bricked the MGM tourney, busted a few bullets in the $600 buy in / $500k Gtd at Orleans, busted the $1600 buy n / $750k Gtd at the Venetian, busted the WSOP Tag Team and then today busted the $1700 buy in / $1M Guaranteed Moneymaker Main. That's not really a crazy amount of busts given how many bullets I fired (only 1 each with the exception of the Orleans and the MGM) but hoping to get back on track before the WSOP Main Event starts later this week.
I've never played in the Main before, and honestly I'm not quite as excited for it as I thought I would be. Maybe some of that will come back once I buy my ticket and take my seat. Doesn't help that I'm on a mini (or really micro) downswing at the moment.
I'm firing the $800 WSOP Independence Day Event tomorrow and then planning on playing Day 1B of the WSOP Main on Thursday. Let's hope for some run good! Will report back when I can.

Alright - few quick updates from the last few days.
I played in the Main Event! And bagged for day 2! Not a ton of chips (48k in stack, down from 60k starting) but still plenty to work with, coming back with 60BB on day 2. Honestly not the best table draw, the one next to me was having a good time and singing happy birthday for someone at the table. My table was stone silent the entire day, only words spoken were to announce a bet size or thank the dealer during a dealer change. Guy busted later in the day boat under boat and no one even reacted. I feel like I did a pretty good job navigating the table though. Didn't run the best but picked my spots and ran a few good bluffs. Honestly the biggest mistake was I called down a bit too often, maybe I gave people credit for more bluffs than they actually had. Either way we live to see another day, hopefully we can run well on day 2.
I bagged the Independence Day Event on bullet 2, ended up finishing in 211th place for $3200 after losing a flip to Ari Engel my 22 < A4s for 13BB blind vs blind. Man, does that guy run well.
Off the rest of today and tomorrow, going to go to the Dead & Co show tomorrow night, a comedy club I think tonight and take some much needed time off before we get back in the Main Event.
Here in Vegas until next Friday at least. If I bust the Main there's a few other events I plan on playing in before I leave, let's hope for some run good.
Interesting thread, thanks for sharing your results on the website. your ROI for an ABI of 50$ online is so sick. did you have a big score to make it that high or steady staircase? would be nice to also see your graph along the general results
Good luck on day 2
@leanPocketPair - thanks! Yeah it's been a pretty crazy run online the last few months. There was definitely one big score ($30k) that helped push me along, but honestly there's been a ton of medium sized scores ($1k to $7k) that drive most of my profit. If you remove the big score though I think my ROI dips to like 22% or something. Maintaining a 30% clip is probably more realistic in the long term but I guess we'll see.
Alright! I'm currently writing this from the disgusting, 90 degree lobby bar at the OYO. The first hotel I stayed at on this trip (Desert Rose Resort) was a little crusty but overall not that bad. The OYO has been awful though, definitely not coming back.
Anyway, wanted to use the free time I have to give all 3 people following along an update on how things have gone here in Vegas.
I busted the WSOP Main Event on Day 2, I got a little short and 4bet jammed QQ, got called by a A9s that was getting out of line, two Aces came on the flop. PokerNews actually captured a bit of the
The Dead & Co show at the Sphere was SIIIICK. Definitely recommend checking out the Sphere if you're ever in Vegas. I think they have shows during the day that just show cool visuals for like $25, definitely work checking out. Imagine IMAX mixed with 3D but better.
I bricked a few other live tournaments (WSOP Ultra Stack, Aria $800 buy in / $200k Gtd, Orleans $300 buy in / $30k Gtd) to end the trip. Overall outside of the Main Event I was up ~$1300, including the Main Event I'm down about $5700 on the trip. Not great, but definitely not bad, could've been a lot worse. Usually on these trips you lose money, breaking even is a good outcome, and every now and again you'll win boatloads. That's just poker.
Headed back to South Florida now. Playing in a nice and juicy weekend tournament ($300 buy in / $100k Gtd at PBKC) and then a few online sessions most likely over the next week or so.
Been awhile since I've taken down a big one, I'm hoping I can grab something substantial before this first half of the Poker year unofficially ends (last day of the WSOP on 7/17 for those curious) and the second half kicks off (for me, this is the WPT Series at the Hardrock which starts on 7/31). Let's do it.
Interesting thread. Looking for future posts. All the best 😀
Hello! Back again. Unfortunately not a ton to report.
There's a big series going on at the Hardrock down here in South Florida. I fired a few of the smaller events, 1/9 to start out the series with the 1 being a min cash. I did have a nice $5550 score online, coming in 2nd place in a $270 buy in tourney. That's been very helpful, as otherwise things have been relatively flat the last few months.
My game's been a bit up and down, I feel like I was at my peak a few months ago but I've been focusing on playing as much as possible the last few months and haven't been studying as much and I think my game's dipped a bit as a result. I just bought The Closer course from Chip Leader Coaching, hopefully getting back on the study grind can help take my game back to where it was and hopefully to the next level.
A few exciting tournaments on the horizon to close out the Poker Open at the Hardrock, then heading to France actually for vacation but will be fitting in a few tournaments along the way. Like I said in the last post, been a few months since my last big score. A few medium ones along the way to keep me going but nothing super substantial. Hopefully next report will be a little more positive. Will keep ya'll posted!
Following. I'm from west coast of Florida and mostly play mtts too. Rooting for ya
Thanks for sharing this, it’s really interesting! Good luck with the rest of the Hard Rock series.
Curious to hear what you think of The Closer as you get into it. I’ve been using CLC AI for a couple months and really like their approach, so I’m considering getting The Closer too.
@Revisionist appreciate the support! I'm probably ~12 videos into The Closer at this point. So far I'm actually not the biggest fan of it, there's a bit of an over-reliance on buzzwords to make some of the concepts they're discussing sound more complex than they actually are (i.e., mechanical construction vs range) and a lack of specific examples in favor of "teaching you how to find a solution that works for you and not just telling you what we do". I'm all for pushing that each student develop their own unique approach to the game, but I don't think they should be withholding their approach to force us to do so. I hope the rest of the course isn't as limited but I fear that Chance / Foxen may have intentionally not included a lot of their own strategies to avoid having them copied by the masses, which kind of defeats the point of a training course IMO. Again, I'm only a handful of videos in, but that's my impression so far. I think they're far better players then Jonathan Little, but he was a better teacher.
Anyway, writing this update from the airport as I prepare to head to the south of France for a bit of poker / vacation. The Hardrock series ended with a fat dud for me, I played in the 2nd biggest buy in ever for me which was the $3k buy in / $1M Guaranteed to close out the Hardrock series. The skill level of the players in the tournament I thought was weak enough to merit an entry, and there ended up being a pretty sizable overlay so I like my decision to play in it. That being said, I didn't cash and didn't love how I played. So far, when I've played in bigger buy in events I've come in with the approach that I need to be prepared to call down a bit wider since better players bluff more often, but so far that plan has backfired spectacularly. Again, it's a very small sample size, but still. Going to have to rethink that approach and stick to lower buyins for the time being, which is where most of my profit comes from anyway. Not playing another $3k+ tourney until January most likely.
Other than the $3k I bricked a few bullets in their $1100 buy in / $500k Gtd and bubbled the $400 NLH tourney at the end KK < KK all in pre. Live poker has been very dry for me the last few months, but things continue to chug along online. Picked up another ~$3k score followed by a series of $1k grabs the last few days. Things are a bit quieter in the live tournament scene here in South Florida until October, where things heat up with the WSOPC Circuit at Harrahs followed by the Moneymaker Series at PBKC followed by the Rock and Roll Poker Open at the Hardrock. Until then, a lot more online poker.
Results on my website should be up to date as well for anyone curious how I'm doing this year. Can follow along on Instagram as well for more frequent updates, trying to get better about posting but battling my hatred for social media at the same time haha. We'll see which one wins out. Might get into streaming soon too? Idk, not sure yet, we'll see.
Until next time!
Being a software developer, I was drawn in by the "open source" in the title haha.
Gonna be following along on IG as well. GL in France!
@ThaHero ahhh I'm glad that part got you, appreciate the support!
Alright, just got back from France yesterday. Short recap on what went down:
Poker wise, it was solid but nothing too crazy. I had initially intended to play a bit more poker during the week but the logistics of getting to and playing in the tournament were a bit more difficult than I had expected. First off, I brought a bunch of USD with me assuming there would be a way to convert it to Euros in the city but apparently once you leave the airport / Paris that's extremely tough to do, so I wasn't able to access as much cash as I thought. Secondly the casino that hosted the series has a weird process where you have to register for everything in advance instead of buying in the day off so a few of the tournaments I wanted to play had massive wait lists by the time we (me and a buddy I was staying with) registered. And thirdly (third of all?), the place we were staying was ~2 miles from the casino and the transportation wasn't as straightforward as I thought, and we literally had to walk home at like 2am after bagging the Main Event (more on that in a second). So overall not ideal but still glad I got to go and play.
So like I said, didn't get to play as much poker as I thought. We also had a scheduling issue so I had to miss the first event I was planning to play in (300 Euro buy in Mini Main). I fired a bullet in the 150 Euro progressive bounty and busted after about an hour QQ < AA all in pre. I fired 2 bullets in the 550 Euro buy in Main Event and bagged on bullet 2. Structure for this Main was that 20% bagged but only 12.5% made the money, so long way to go still on day 2. Bagged ~40BB which is plenty, ended up making the money then made a questionable bluff a bit after the bubble burst to end my tournament. For those curious, here's the HH:
Blinds 6/12k, bigger stack in +1 (labeled as a bit of a fish, mixes in limps and raises, a bit sticky postflop but only with 2P+) raises to 27k, I call on the BU with KcJd (a bit speculative, but wanted to play pots IP vs this player) off a 240k stack, BB big stack (~500k, aggressive reg that's been betting a ton but folding essentially everytime to significant postflop pressure) calls. 3 ways to 9d9h4d, flop checks through. Turn is a Qd, BB bets out for 50k, +1 makes the call, I think for a bit then rip it for ~210k, BB thinks for a bit then puts in the call, +1 sigh folds. The BB turns over 44 for the flopped full house to scoop.
I spent a lot of time reviewing this one, I think it's a marginally +EV bluff but if I could go back again I think I just fold and look for a better spot, honestly think it's probably a fold pre. I'd been so card dead that day / week / the whole month really I think I convinced myself I needed to play more hands that I actually should've.
So ended up with a min cash there, 1/4 on the trip and basically breakeven. My buddy was fortunate enough to FT though so was nice to see that. Overall could be a lot worse so I'm not complaining. I've been in like a mid-swing the past few months, not really up or down just sideways. There's a few juicy tournaments on the horizon though so I'm hoping I can break out and take down something big.
Mostly playing online the next few weeks until the next series at the Hardrock kicks off in mid-September. As always, you can follow along on my Instagram (@clutchpoker) for daily updates.
Until next time!
stumbled upon this thread - very cool journey. You're playing only MTT's?
Great database site too - how do I get a copy for myself?
@GutPunch - thanks! Appreciate the support. Yeah, only MTTs at the moment. I used to play a ton of cash but I've since phased it out for the most part. I keep trying to get back into it but I feel like I'll be more successful if I put all my eggs in one basket and try to become the best tournament player I can. We'll see though, maybe I'll sprinkle in a bit of 1/3 and 2/5 in the future.
Hello! Wanted to post an update on my August tournament results (spoiler alert, they weren't great).
Here's a recap:
Overall Results: -$10,795.88
- Bit of background on this overall number, it's my second worse month ever since I began playing (worse was -$15k earlier this year), though I've been playing bigger recently so I was expecting bigger swings. Either way, it's not great. I've been in a bit of a mini-downswing over the summer, though part of that is because I've been taking a bit of time off. Now that things are starting to pick back up with the summer ending I'm hoping to break out of this funk, very optimistic for what September has in store.
Online Tournaments: -$2662.88
Number of Sessions Played: 7
- This is very low, I aim for ~15 online sessions per month at least. This particular month I was travelling a lot for a few end of summer weddings / bachelor parties. Hopefully I can get this up to like 20 in September.
Number of Total Online Tournaments: 249
- For reference, I'm usually playing between 6 and 8 tables at once
Average Buy In: $52.60
- Pretty standard for me, buy ins ranging from $9.90 at the lowest to $450 at the highest. Most of them though are between $16.50 and $162
Biggest Online Win: $3390.26
- No huge victories this month unfortunately, part of the reason I didn't do as well. This one was a 3rd place in the Nightly $40k Guaranteed tourney on Ignition. Had one win but it was in a smaller tourney for like $450.
Live Tournaments: -$8133.00
Number of Bullets: 25
- This is about what I aim for each month, depending on what's going on in the area. My primary focus is online, but hoping to get this average up as much as I can.
Average Buy In: $551.00
- This is also around what I usually play, maybe a bit higher. Typical ABI is probably closer to $500 flat, again just depends on what's going on in the area. Biggest buy in was in a $3k buy in / $1M Gtd at the Hardrock Casino that I bricked, outside of that a lot of things in the $200-$600 area.
Biggest Live Win: $3750.00
- Got 5th place in a $600 buy in, $100 bounty tourney at the Hardrock. They wanted to chop but I said no and then busted shortly after haha classic.
That's it! If anyone found this helpful / insightful / wants to see anything else included let me know, will try to do these each month going forward.
As always, you can follow along with the journey on my Instagram @clutchpoker.
Until next time.
Love the transparency, keep going bro
Cool website. I will tell you like everyone else on here. Unless you put in more volume you wont beat the variance. You need to play around 10k mtts a year to make a living at mtts. You will downswing at some point and it can go on for 2 to 3 years if you don't put in more volume. I told a lot of mtt players on twitch to put in more volume or they wont make it. They ban me and every single one of them is in 2 to 3 year downswing right now after doing well first few years. I am just telling you guys the truth. To make it in poker the focus should be on beating variance and to do that it is a lot of volume. You need to play about 30 to 40 mts a day or the variance will get you. Looks like you are have a good year. Just ramp up the volume and you wont have issues making it as mtt player long term.
@graypoker - thanks! Appreciate it.
@iburydoscocaroaches - Thanks for the feedback on the website. I agree that volume is key, hoping to double my volume from August in the month of September. Off to a decent start so far, will keep ya'll posted.
Hello! Been a bit but back again to update you guys on my September tournament results. Before I get into them, but of background that I'm currently in the midst of a fat downswing. I was in one last year that was pretty rough honestly, and once I got out of it I think I thought for some reason that I was done with downswings but obviously that's not going to be the case. Downswings are probably mine and every tournament players least favorite part of poker. They really make you question your entire game, something that can be incredibly frustrating. Hopefully I'm on the way out of it but you never know. Anyway, just wanted to add that bit of background, on to the numbers:
Overall Results: -$4,434.26
- Not bad honestly, considering I was down nearly $10k before finishing 3rd in a $1100 buy in tournament near the end of the month for ~$7500 that kind of saved the month. I'm still in a nearly ~$25k downswing (feels like -$100k though :/) from my peak in early July but at least this stopped the bleeding a bit. October is a big month down here in South Florida with a few big poker tournament series going on so hopefully we can end the year with some positive momentum.
Online Tournaments: -$3,789.26
Number of Sessions Played: 13
- Highest number I've ever had actually. Most monthly I put in ~10 sessions. I recognize this number is still relatively low, trying to get closer to ~15 every month.
Number of Online Tournaments: 429
- Very solid number, usually playing between 6-8 tables at once. Dropped down to 6 for a while because I felt my play was slipping a bit but now usually have 7 going, probably back up to 8 soon. Hoping to get to 10 by the end of the year.
ABI per session: $1755.97
- My goal is to fire ~$1800 worth of tournaments per session so this was a bit low actually, also the result of dropping my ABI a bit when I thought my play was weaker. I played on average 33 tournaments per session so that amounts to an ABI of ~$53.
Biggest Online Win: $3890.61
- Another month with no "juicy" wins (I consider "juicy" to be $5k+) but this one was pretty solid and came at a much-needed time. This was a 3rd place finish in the $162 buy in, $30k guaranteed Monster Stack on Ignition. I don't know what it is about this tournament but I seem to print in this one specifically, I think I'm up like $10k this year just in this tournament alone.
Live Tournaments: -$645.00
Number of Bullets: 24
- About average for me, very much just dependent on what's going on in the area. As I mentioned October is a busy month down here so this will probably be closer to ~40 next month
Average Buy In: $393.75
- A bit lower than average, usually I am to be closer to $500. There was a $150 buy in, $100k guaranteed that I fired 7 bullets in (and didn't cash btw) that brought this down.
Biggest Live Win: $7570.00
- I finished 3rd place in a $1100 buy in, $50k guaranteed at the Hardrock at the very end of the month, boy did I need that one. I came into the final table last place in chips so feel pretty good about the third-place finish here.
That's all I got! If you find this helpful at all or want to see any other type of information included let me know! As always, you can follow along with the journey on my Instagram @clutchpoker.
Until next time.
Cool website bro.
