From $0 to WSOP main event

From $0 to WSOP main event

Hello everyone!

I've been playing poker since 2006 as casual player. For The past 2 years I have been studying a bit and actually have found myself as winning player.

The problem I have always had is that I have never been good with brm and took shots at high levels leaving my bankroll with just pennies.

For the past 2 months I have been grinding GGpoker freebie tickets daily and twice got my roll past $60. On both occasions I did withdraw the money as I have been unemployed and my financial situation has been horrible.

Now I have a Job and I decided that I would try brm challenge where I try to get from 0 to WSOP main event. I record all of my games and will post a video to YouTube everytime I clear a level of My challenge.

In the challenge I only play GGpoker freebies and MTT tournaments. Level 1 of the challenge is only freebie tournaments and I will keep playing just those till I get to $10. In level 2 I will include $0.25 mtt's to the mix. Rakeback will be included to the br. I've decided that will end The challenge If my br hits $150k or If I get a WSOP me ticket from satellite. I will start playing satellites at $50k

I started my journey on 27th of July and my target for reaching $10 is 4weeks. So far I have played the following games:
27th July $1 Spin & Gold 6-max: 0
28th July $0.25 mystery bounty: $1.99
29th July $0,25 spin & gold 6-max: $1
30th July $0,25 mystery bounty: 0

So far I have already cleared my target for week1($2.5 for a week during level 1). I have confidence that I can reach $10 on 4 weeks but not gonna say I could do IT before that.

The first 5 levels of my challenge:
Level 1: 0-$10, only freebies
Level 2: $10 - $25 free + MTT up to $0.25
Level 3: $25 - $60 free + MTT up to $0.50
Level 4: $60 - $140 free + MTT up to $1
Level 5: $140 - $240 free + MTT up to $2

My targets:
Level 1: 4weeks
Level 5: 6months
Level 23(150k br and time to play at WSOP me) : 15 years

My live tournament experience: 1 small local tournament with 50€ buy in 10 years ago. I won't play any live tournaments before I get to play WSOP me.

I'm gonna update this blog on weekly basis. My results for the first week are as follow:

Spin & Gold $1 (1 played)= 0
Spin & Gold $0.25 (3 played)= $1(1x W)
Mystery Battle Royal $0.25 (3 played) = $3.48(2x W)
Rakeback = $0.14

I had a chance to get past $5 today but came in 4th in 6-max $0.25 Spin & Gold. Anyways I am way ahead of my 4weeks target for getting $10. Even though my week 1 was really great result wise I don't think I can replicate it unless I get some good bounties in the Mystery Battle Royal which I doubt will happen.

I decided to add some new targets to beat to my list.

Level 1: 4weeks (Get to $10)
Level 2: 10weeks (Get to $25)
Level 3: 16weeks (Get to $60)
Level 4: 21weeks (Get to $140)
Level 5: 6 months (Get to $240)

I think these targets are manageable.

Peace out! See you guys in a week.

Time for my weekly update. I've decided that I'm not gonna post any hands here. I will be putting a video up on youtube when I eventually get to $10 and I will be uploading more videos occasionally.

Why I post here in twoplustwo if I'm not gonna post any hands or don't wanna get any advice? This journey is just for myself and I wanna have something concrete out of this challenge. It's gonna be fun to read these post and look at my YT videos like 15 years from now.

I had day off work yesterday and I had huge itch for some poker. I wanted some micro action and was thinking about depositting some money. In the end I decided not to. This was the first time during this challenge that I felt like I wanted to play more than the daily freebie ticket. I just can't wait till I get to $10 and start playing the T$ Builder $0.25 tournies. The structure is horrible on those but I have to start somewhere right?

Horrible week result wise but didn't play that bad. I've started to realize how much I hate the structure of Spin & Gold sng's. You start with 15bb and after few minutes you have like half of that. Way too fast paced for my liking. Well I get the tickets free of charge so I shouldn't be whining here.

Result from week 2:

Spin & Gold $1 (1 played)= 0
Spin & Gold $0.25 (3 played)= $0.5
Mystery Battle Royal $0.25 (3 played) = 0
Rakeback = $0.05

Still looking good that I can hit $10 in 4 weeks. Thank's to rakeback I'm on the right track.

Overall results of my challenge:

Spin & Gold $1 (2 played)= 0
Spin & Gold $0.25 (6 played)= $1.5(1x W)
Mystery Battle Royal $0.25 (6 played) = $3.48(2x W)
Rakeback = $0.19

Peace out and see you guys again in a week

Fast update. Week 3 has been crazy!

I will update weekly scores later but here is my roll atm

I got to $12.21 today from $9.71 with the daily Spin & Gold ticket. Luckily I won and my luck doesn't end there. The prize pool was 20x! Nice $2.5 from there. I got $7 from the freebies this week.

I didn't take a screen shot of my br when I got that W and played 3x $0.25 spin & gold tournies with no results. From now on I won't be playing Spin & golds aside from the freebies. I have 1x $0.25 T dollar tournament registered as well atm. I will update my complete weekly results tomorrow when I'm at work.

Been so darng long since I last played mtt with decent field. Hopefully my luck will stay with me on my journey with the MTT's. Wish me luck.

Peace out and see you guys again in a week

Results for Week 3
Spin & Gold $1 (1 played)= $4(1 W)
Spin & Gold $0.25 (6 played)= $2.25(1W)

T$ Builder $0.25(5 played) = $-1.25
Rakeback = $0.23
BR: $10.21

I got so excited for getting past $10 yesterday and Immediatly wanted more action. There was no $0.25 MTT games running at the time so I decided to pop a few spin & gold's. This was huge mistake from my part. I have 33% top 2 rate on spin & gold 6-max tournaments. I remember reading that you need 36% top 2 rate for 6-max to be profitable and 18% winrate. I dunno what my winrate is but I think my HU winrate is close to 50%.

Played 3 different T$ Builder $0.25 tournaments yesterday had 2nd bullet in two of em. The format is really turboish as the tournaments runtime is 2.5 hours on average. On the first one I activated a godmode till the bubble. The starting stack is 50bb and I had 140bb's on level 5 which translates to 7x starting stack. On the bubble I decided to put pressure on others and I got Ax(I think I had A9 but not too sure). One guy called. The flop came AQx.. I bet, villain calls... Turn x, I bet villain calls. River Q, I shove villain calls. Villain had slowed pocket aces. I had the villain on AJ or AK type of hand. No aggression at all and just called my raises. I covered him but I was left with less than 5bb after that and was out the next hand.

This week was horrible. I had decent volume on $0.25 games but didn't have real success yet. Got to final 3 tables couple of times and man I hate the push fold structure of the games. Got 1 final table and finished at 7th place. When there was 10 players remaining I got dealt QQ on BB. Early position shoved 11bb and I called leaving 5bb behind. Villain had KJo and K on flop cripled me. Blinds went up next hand and had 3.5bb remaining. I did fold my way to final table and got lucky as I got drawn to button with my 1.7bb stack. I didn't get any good hands before BB so I kept folding. Villains had no clue about ICM as one dude busted after calling with K3o. I went out on My BB but 2 guys did bust before me so I laddered up.

Worst hand of The week. Aggro villain with biggest stack of the tournament(VPIP 85, 40k+ stack) goes all in from UTG. I'm 2nd in chips(VPIP 25, 30k+ chips) and I cold call with QJ of diamonds. I don't know what I was thinking. Villain busted me. I do Make mistakes a ton but I can't really explain this one.

Worst day of The week. Wednesday. I had a rough start to week 4 and my roll was down to $4 fast. I started to get some Back during Tuesday and early Wednesday. My roll was above 9$ after my wednesday work shift. Went to afterwork party, got hammered and I don't remember anything past getting to a cab so I can get home. When I woke up I decided to play some poker. To my surprise br was $3.5.... apparently when I got home I decided to play 3x $1 mystery bounties, threw 3 bullets on T$0.5 and Lost $1 on NL2....I thought this was it. End of my short journey.

Best day of the week was Thursday. I had evening shift at work and decided to play some $0.25 tournaments and try to climb back up. For some reason I checked my bankroll and I had C$19.60 on my account. First thing that came to my mind was that it's a mistake and that doesn't belong to me. Well apparently I faced a bad beat while playing NL2 while drunk and got lucky in the daily all in freeroll. I dunno how many hands of NL2 I played but I ended up with $15.05 after playing a ton. I would have finished on profit on NL2 but I got this one cooler in the end where me and villain were both 250bb deep. Flop A88 I have A8 villain has AA.

What I learned during week 4? It's really hard to adjust to the $0.25 games. I can block unwanted games from My tournament list(I played on $0.75 satellite on mistake). Don't get drunk like that again. Playing poker under influence is pure idiocy.

Peace out and have a nice Weekend

Nice work! Getting to double digits is the first goal 😀 nice volume too but the variance of those hyper turbos is real! Good luck I will be following with interest 😆

I haven't posted here in a while. Let's have a recap.

Two weeks ago I introduced a new rule called curtain call. This rule allows me to play one tournament one step above My current level as I have kinda strick Time restrictions. On the first night I came in 3rd on a T$ Builder $0.50 tournament and my br rose to $29. That allowed me to play games up to $0.5. Two days later on 26th of August I got 3rd again and this time the price was double that I got 2 days earlier(I got $11 on saturday and $22 on monday). With other small scores my br rose up to $55.

The came Tuesday... I am bipolar and I had my first down day in nearly a year. I almost blew away my whole br in one Day. Eventually I went busto in saturday that week and for the next three days I just played the freebies. On wednesday I decided it was time to go busto once again and start this challenge from the beginning. I had $4.20 Blaze it as rake back and some spare cents... I played two tournaments and both went deep.

I didn't get the normal result window for the $1 tournament as the top 2 went to discuss a deal immediatly after I did bust.

So my br was somethin like $92. I withdrew $71 and decided If I get to $25 I will restart the challenge from there. Well that didn't happen. I went busto again and now I am starting the challenge with $4.22 br from which $4.06 is from rakeback. This is my final attempt at this.

Why do you cashout those profits? Ofc you are going busto with such a tiny amount you left in the accounts. Poker gives and takes, it doesn't give a **** about your financial situation.

What goes up, must come down - the swings are part of the game but if you can't handle it, this game might be not for you. Better get a job and play video games without risk.

My mindset wasn't that strong. If I had kept the whole sum, then I would have lost it all as my brm was out of the window. Now I am back at grinding $0.25 tournies and I can play two of thise
during the week as there is just one per every two hours.

During August I was playing at work as we didn't have that much of things going. Now we can barely have breaks.

And I play a ton of video games as there isn't enough action in the below $1 tournaments

of course you can do what ever you want with your time, i am just a player myself and also had times where I loaded up my last $10 to spin it up and hopefully will never have to return to this.

One game every two hours sounds garbage from every perspective. Volume is one of the keys in this wonderful game.

Maybe you'll check this guy out:

Found him through browsing the poker streams. He played a $10 BR up to $1k iirc in 100 days grinding 6max spins on GG Poker. A good portion comes from promotions (daily leaderboard) and rewards.

Right now he is doing a second attempt starting with $10 and giving out free content by streaming the journey and also uploading it on youtube.
