Back after more than 10 years with no Idea where to start
Hi guys,
my name is Alex, im from Germany and 15 to 10 years ago, I financed myself during my Universtity days with grinding STT SNGS and MTT SNGS on Pokerstars (remember that it got a lot harder after Black Friday)
Had to cut back on my activities severely when I started into my first Job and moved in with my Girl back then and lost the passion for it over time over other life issues. Now I just entered my Fourties and think I still have unfinished business with game (playing the Main Event in Vegas and paying the entry from my Poker winnings has always been and is still on my bucket list )
I created a a CG Poker account recently (this is the place to be nowadays, right?) and want to play Cash Game (I have a familiy life and cant grind MTTs that lock me in front of the Computers for 10 hours+ a day).
Ive been doing well on the stock market over the last years and have developed a profitable Sports Betting strategy, so I don´t need Poker necessiarily to to make money, but ofc I want to profitable (should be every players goal, right? 😀)
So before any action happens here, I have a few questions to the Community:
1. If you dont have a significant skill edge in any of the two games and had to learn from the scratch again: Would you learn PLO or stick to NLHE first? (want to learn both eventually, but start out with one). Being a former player, Crypto Investor and low margin sports bettor I can handle every swing PLO provides to me)
2. What sites/books/videos do I have to before starting out? (Have only material on Tournament Poker and a copy of "Easy Game" Is this still up to date?
Thanks for your comments guys, I hope I will be able to generate an interesting blog here over time 😀
Cheers!

Hey guys,
my first post hit major interest in here, lol 😀 but nevertheless, I will continue to document whats happening in here, thanks for everyone reaching out to me via DM.
A few things have moved in the past few weeks:
1)
I never really played on GGPoker yet, so I randomly loaded 10 Euro on the account and started dabbling Rush & Cash PLO and NLHE. Started out on 1c/2c and moved to bigger games in order to see how players act different in NLHE 10 and PLO 10 (Even had one PLO 25 mixed in when my Bankroll hit >25) All in all, I thankfully ran good in the bigger games, so my Bankroll is already about $50 right now already. Will continue to play 1c/2c Rush & Cash PLO with this for now and deposit a bit more when I feel confident i can beat PLO 2 in order to move up to PLO 5. Want to beat PLO2 over 10-20k hands first.
2)
As I never played PLO competitively until now, I´m aware I have to learn the basics of the game and especially the differences between NLHE and PLO, still feeling much more confident in NLHE, yet feel the PLO games are easier to beat. Thankfully, I attempted the switch to PLO in 2011 also already, so I still had old copies of Jeff Hwangs and Tri Nguyens PLO books, which I am currently reading (Also have a book from Dan Deppen on PLO8)
3)
Unfortunately, I found out that my old Hold Em Manager does not work on CCPoker and they just have their own inbuilt HUB system. This is without a doubt helpful, but HM has always been a major tool for me to analyze my game and plug my leaks. So Im thinking of playing on Pokerstars.eu for now and collecting hand histories on my game. (Havent found this on GGPoker so I assume its not supported.
Will give you guys an update soon, probably also put in a few hands for analysis by then.
Cheers!
You can download your hands from poker craft and import them. It's an option down the bottom when you're in the client.
Gg is a rake trap. Play somewhere else imo.
Listen to bananas he is as smart as his nickname
Hi Alex,
welcome back.
H2N4 is free to use for 4c PLO, if you have any problems using HM.
