from micros to high stakes
Hi everyone. Im 28 years old micro stakes player from Finland. I have been playing for years, but always stayed at the lowest stakes. Because it is the new year I felt that maybe I should do some kind of new years resolutions, and decided to set a goal for cool +50k profit for the year. Maybe its little ambitious and variance is a bitch, but always liked to set my goals kinda high. Reason why I haven’t really moved to higher stakes are that when I have won something, I always withdraw the money out, and spend it to something stupid. Nowadays my life roll is little healthier, so hopefully those days are behind. I decided to write this blog in 2+2, bc I think the audience is bit bigger, and writing in English is always fun.
So im playing pretty much only mtt:s on GG, but every once in a while I’ll play on different sites, if there are some kind of series. My main game is holdem. I like plo as well, even tho I’m not that great at it. Luckily 98% of the players in micro plo mtts are worse than me, so there is some money to be made there :-)
End of the year 24 I deposited 50d to gg, and now it is 750d. I have been playing a lot lately, 11 days this month already and I really am feeling great about my game. Run has been kind of swingy, quite many ft bubbles and early ft bustouts, but I have been able to win two tournaments. Unfortunately I still have a day-time job and a relationship (not unfortunately), so cant always play as much I want, but luckily I manage with very little sleep.
Trying to post here pretty often, at least once a week. If there is somebody that feels they are decent at micro-stakes and would like to chat about hands strategy etc, it would be nice to share some thoughts!
glgl to everyone and have a great new year :-)

Good luck with your goal. I hope you'll make a lot of money from poker. I think setting high goals is the way to go.
But if I could give you one piece of advice, it is to not sacrifice your sleep for things like poker, at least not until you reach high stakes.
Also, I feel like New Year is a very arbitrary date. It shouldn't make any difference whether it's a new year or the middle of the year; if you have the internal drive to reach high stakes, you'll do it. If you have short-lived motivation because of some arbitrary date, I think it will be one or two weeks before that motivation is exhausted.
And on the topic of goals and motivation, I would recommend reading this book: *Black and White: The Way I See It* by Richard Williams. Richard Williams is the father of tennis players Venus and Serena Williams, who are considered two of the best tennis players of all time.
