The year of returning to poker

The year of returning to poker

Hey guys, this is my first thread and it is a goal!

So first of all, who am I and what is my past in poker?

I am a 23 years old guy living in a central european country, currently studying at university. First time I played poker I was 17 years old but I played dogshit volume for a couple of years. I played like 20 hours a week (so like 80 hours a month which is decent but obviously not the most) for a bit more than a year. This was from the June of 2022 to the August of 2023. I was playing live cash game and I guess I was one of the top winners at my stake or at worst case just a tiny level below the top crushers at that stake. This was the lowest stake in the poker room. The currency is not euro so the amount won't tell you anything. What matters is that the skill level of the player pool was like most 1/2 or 1/3 (usd) tables live. So as you can guess it wasn't the hardest to beat but still you had to study to be top winner at that stake and I was (or very very close to it). When I moved up in stakes I did not win although I didn't have a normal sample size but thinking back I had huge huge leaks. So after the August of 2023 I stopped playing cause I had a rough semester at university and due to some environment stuff. One of my main goal for 2024 was playing poker online which I did not do because I was a weak shithead.

Why do I start this thread?

I feel guilty because last year I left out poker completely. So in 2025 I want to push myself and challenge myself. I start this thread because I have no one that I can talk to about poker and about my poker goals and I want to be somewhat accountable so posting here becomes reasonable.

Okay, so finally what is my goal for the year?

1.) Be profitable on NL5 rush&cash/fastfold/zoom/etc. (so I start from the bottom xd but live full ring is totally different to 6max zoom)
2.) Play 400k hands or 800 hours
3.) Study 200 hours

So what's my plan in order to reach these goals?

So I already studied a ton, I studied a course in the last 3 month and I finished it today. It was tough stuff, a guy was showing PIO sims on 4 different textures covering the most common parts of the game tree including OOP play, IP play, Blind vs Blind play. He also covered OOP play in 3BP as the PFC and as the PFR and IP play in 3BP as the PFR. So I will start playing tomorrow after repeating the Preflop part.
My plan is playing 40 weeks with playing 10k hands a week or 20 hrs a week. I will play 2 tables of rush&cash on GG, unfortunately I can't play more tables because my game diminishes as I tested it in the past few weeks. Study wise I will study 5hrs every week.

Regarding the blog all I can say is that I will write very rarely. I think that writing often doesn't make sense because it eats up a lot of time. So the blog will be about reflecting about my game and my general feelings. I am not sure when will I write next but the next "checkpoint" is when I played my first 100k hand. When I reach that, it is 100% that I will write here.

I am excited and I look forward testing myself. I am curious where I will be at the end of the year. Hopefully not at the same place xd.

Let's dominate :p
