[GTO] Why do we bluff-raise with these combos?

[GTO] Why do we bluff-raise with these combos?

NL500 100bb deep on GTO Wizard

BTN opens 2.5bb, SB 3bet 12bb, BTN calls. Board is J 5 4

Doesnt matter if the SB is betting 33% or 50%, BTN is going to bluff-raise with 33 and 22 WITHOUT a spade

Vs 33%

Vs 50%

I find this very counterintuitive, anyone knows why?

You don't want to face a jam and fold out hand with clean set outs and 2 backdoor. Also 3c3d gets calls from As3s.

Pocket 2s and 3s benefit from raising because they can potentially fold out better pairs and they benefit by folding out any two cards that will have six outs. They also have backdoor straight draws that will give them additional equity on small turn cards.

I'm not sure why the solver prefers not having a spade, but a 2 or 3 high BDFD is of limited utility. My guess is that 2s and 3s with a spade are strong enough to call as they can likely continue vs a barrel on a spade turn.

1. SB doesn't have much low spades, so blockers don't matter as much

2. IP normally wants to raise more polarized anyway, since OOP tends to continue by 3betting/folding a lot. That is, equity isn't that important, and we sometimes prefer raising weaker hands that are not strong enough to call.

We would never do this OOP, since our IP opponent would defend by mostly calling - making the extra equity/playability with 3s3x more important.
